I have not been updating my apps and games for some time now. Reason is, on a few of my apps, after I updated them, the rating was reset, thus my ranking drops to very low and my earnings dropped like hell. I had like 1-2 more apps that are making me ok-ish income and I was scared to update them. But now in iOS11, quite a lot of my apps will no longer run (for some stupid reasons created by Apple) including the 1-2 apps that are making me ok-ish income. That means I need to update them and thereby reset the rating and screw me upside down. In short, what the #### Apple.
Looks like you have a choice now and ratings no longer reset automatically: https://help.apple.com/itunes-connect/developer/#/devfb7e87af8 I also checked a few games on the appstore, and "previous ratings" (or whatever it was called) is no longer there. So, seems you are good and can update. If you want to be 100% sure, ask Apple and hope they give you a straightforward answer
