My son, bless him, found my ipod touch and within 15 minutes had worked out how to use it and just loved it. I've pretty much enforced a "NO! its Daddy's toy" rule, but any reconmendations of games/puzzles suitable for a 4yo? As long as its under supervision I don't mind him using it, and am in a way quite proud of how quick he was to work it out.
Angry Birds and Doodle jump are quite easy to learn and use. What did your kid like doing on the ipod? EDIT: Give him The Settlers >:} (The Age of empires like game, if you want to see if he can work that out!)
Well, my five year old cant read, so I'm guessing the games he likes would be good recommendations: Plants vs. Zombies: (w/o reading a little help is required, but he has played this way too much) Scoops (definitely) Doodle Jump (he is as good as I am lol) Mega Jump Fruit Ninja Tilt to Live (he is really good at it) Chop Chop Runner Flight Control (not sure he ever liked this, but his 8 year old sister did) Mouse About (simple puzzle game, starts very easy) Fling! (simple puzzle game, starts very easy) Snow Brawlin (not that great of a game, but what kid doesnt like a snowball fight and the basic version is free I think) Minigore (violent) The Creeps (cute tower defense) Blowfish (not sure I would pay for this, but if its free, grab it) Super KO Boxing (free right now, starts easy...you know, if your ok with him having a cartoony boxing game)) Flyloop &/or Star Catch (he never really got into either, but I could see a kid liking them) Alive4ever (mostly just kidding...my five year old does like playing it with me, but most parents wouldnt let a 4 year old play due to realisticish violence) Buggle (well, he has never really been into it, but its a great match 3 for kids) There are about 50 million lite versions of games that are totally suitable for 10 or 15 minutes of entertainment for a 4 year old now and then. You dont need to pay anything if you dont want too. The above are all full games that I either bought or got for free. I dont tend to keep lites on, but one that comes to mind is Bounce On, a platformer. Hope that helps.
How about... Dizzypad Ninja Town: Trees of Doom Pollywog Rat On A Scooter Ramp Champ Smiles Sprin Stick Skater etc...
4x4 Jam has an "endless" mode if he wants to just drive around. Tickle Tap Apps have a number of excellent kids apps. There are a number of good Dr. Seuss books that will read themselves - tap on an object to say what it is, swipe for next page. Tappy Tunes could be a good start in music/rhythm. Lucky coins is a blast for all ages. Quitit! is not really a game, but your kid might have fun with Lumpy. Anybody can play SkeeBall Same goes for Ramp Champ. Silly Stories is like MadLibs (you will have to help them) Lets Tans has kids puzzles. 1000 Find Em All has a lot of text, but probaby playable. Hello Kitty Parachute Panic is actually a fun game, but girly. I've seen 4 year olds play Flight Control just fine. 10 Pin Shuffle is a great bowling game. Face Fighter is chock full of cartoony violent goodness!

Ok, maybe not the best ideas. Some better ones would be: Any of the Tap Tap games, since a 4 year old most likely won't care about getting the high score, and will more or less just try to hit as many notes as possible. Doodle Jump Tilt to Live, although that might be a bit tough for a 4 yr. old. Jet Car Stunts, although same as above. Then again, it might just be fun for them to just drive the car. Basically any racing game in the App Store, since win/loss isn't usually an issue. THPS2/Skate It - for some reason, my younger cousin has liked THPS games since he started playing video games. THPS2 has very little blood, it's hardly noticeable, and looks extremely fake. It's also pretty easy to get the hang of the basics, and many kids, like my cousin, just like to ride around and occasionally jump on stuff. Same would probably go for Skate It, and they'd probably enjoy drawing lines on screen and seeing what happens. And if you think a game is too hard, but that they'd enjoy it, a lot of times my cousin liked to watch me play games, like when I'd play Monkey Island on my iPod. soup Well-Known Member Feb 5, 2009 2,513 0 36 #9 soup, Jul 2, 2010 Parcel Panic - not for the actual game but the driving is fun Thomas the tank engine alpine crawler world rolando wheels on the bus iron horse the lorax + lorax garden old macdonald monkey flight peggle the smelly sprout postman pat train conductor should all be playable and keep him busy for a bit fairlady Well-Known Member Dec 31, 2008 336 0 0 Owner: Fairlady Media Raleigh, NC http://www.fairladymedia.com #10 fairlady, Jul 3, 2010 My almost-4-year-old daughter enjoys the two educational games we've developed for our kids: Whizzit 123 (for ages 1-5) Whizzit Words (for ages 4-6) We're coming out with a new one very soon called Whizzit Candy Blaster, and she has enjoyed play-testing that one. Any maze type things, I've got Maze but that introduces enemies and 'double click to remove wall' concepts which would be too much for me to bother teaching just yet? Most popular one is ABC Letters Tracing, where kids can trace the letters of the alphabet. It includes pictures of cute animals. Auto corrects so kids can play on their own.
