Woo, I'll be submitting the update tomorrow. There's a bunch of awesome new tweaks/features coming. Will list it all tomorrow after I get some sleep.
That's awesome dude. Thanks for all the effort you're putting into this! Know what's funny? I've yet to update Kid Tripp on my iPhone and I'm finding 1-3 to be significantly harder on my updated iPad version.
Love this game. I have over a hundred games installed and nothing keeps me coming back more than Kid Tripp. One thing that bothers me if I can bring this up... I expect to die 1000 times or more. The die 10 times and press continue is what is becoming tedious (because I'm bad at this game). Considering I can continue an unlimited number of times I would like some kind of auto continue so I don't have to see the game over screen and press continue. Just remove all my coins restart me in the game. 1000 deaths = 100 times I'm taken to the game over screen and all I do is press continue. Small complaint! Game is amazingly balanced and the timing of the enemies is spot on. I am finding 3-5 very difficult to jump on water with spikes above. I should probably stop trying to collect coins and just take the easier path.
As a platform lover, I want to enjoy this but there's a lot of distracting elements. The screen just becomes cluttered and I feel like I'm just guessing which isn't very fun to me. I'm in like 4-3 now I think and everything is just in your face. The colors are all blending and with the screen shaking it's just convoluted. It feels like artificial difficulty. I'm a fan of retro graphics, but a lot of time in this game they feel distracting with the color schemes. Oh geez, the shaking is 4-4 is giving me a migraine. Ugh. It doesn't help that it's at the beginning of the level is it happens every restart, right away. Wish there was a separate button for speed. After years of playing platformers , it just feels weird to press the accelerate button and have something fire. I'm also used to things firing on key release. I keep sabotaging myself by trying to accelerate, but shooting what I need instead.
Sorry you're having problems. I'm working on improving visibility in world 4 now (the background's darker and I'm mixing up colors a little bit). I also reduced the severity of the screen shaking quite a bit, so hopefully that will help some too. The controls will stay though; it's pretty standard fare on the NES. By the time you hit world 4 you should pretty much only be running and just throwing a rock when absolutely necessary.
Haha nice to see you're enjoying it! Someone else mentioned the game over screen popped up too quickly for their taste. I'll try to work out a solution in the future (probably not in the next update though).
Annnnnd the update's been submitted to Apple! Here's the list of changes: Now displays the game in widescreen on iPhone 5 and in fullscreen on iPad! New tutorial screens briefly explain the game's controls. Credits can now be skipped after the game's been completed at least once. New option to flip/invert the control scheme. You can now share your endgame stats on Twitter! Other small bug fixes and improvements. Also attached a couple new widescreen and iPad screenshots.
Absolutely!, this game deserve GOTW title, but in the vote thread the game have just a few votes. That's the reason why I give my vote to rymdkapsel...
I think I've died at least 200 times on 4-2. Any tips on getting past the part where the falling rock comes down and then the two spiders of the spikes?
I had a lot of trouble at that part, as have many others. But I can pass it easily every time, now. More or less. You're going to want to be sprinting. Jump on to the first spider from the 2nd block, making sure to keep the jump button held. May take a few tries to get the timing down, but you'll get there.
