For those who don't know the back story here, Portable Zoo is headed by Don Traeger, most famous for co-founding EA Sports as well as his work at THQ and Atari (which included being the voice on Paperboy). So this is from what promises to be a good development studio.

At $.99 it looks like it's worth a shot.

Yeah, for 99 cents it's totally worth it. It's fun!

Wrote some of my thoughts about it here. Also, the fact that it's the voice of Paperboy and the Co-Founder of EA Sports I find to be a pretty fun novelty :D

Are the levels long? Because there seems to be only 6.

    Chalk full of fun? *groans*

[app]Karuki[/app] is in the Skyjump genre, akin to Skybound or Master Jumperton, but offers some welcome additions. I make the sub-genre distinction, because the player draws a line to create platforms, instead of using pre-existing platforms, like Doodle Jump or PapiJump.

It differs from all of the aforementioned titles, in that the goal is not simply to jump upwards in a one-screen wide pillar. You can bounce your little globbo all over the map. There are pinball-style bumpers that bounce you once, each time you hit them, and also bad guys that cost a life, I think. The goal is to collect a pre-defined number of little scribble dewds, then reach the exit to complete the level.

The whole level is rendered quite convincingly on a chalkboard, which is a nice thematic choice. The controls are dead on and bouncing your chalkster around the board feels great. I have yet to explore the secondary elements of the game such as scoreboards and achievements (if it has them), but the core gameplay is fun and polished.

Is the level's initial layout somewhat randomized or extremely pre-scripted?
