How exactly do you open treasure chests? I would just try to smash it with a pickaxe or something, but one of the title screen hints said I should open it first.
Some of the recipes I found I lost somehow. I also died. Could those have been taken away when it said some of my items would be taken? If that is the case that is kind of harsh - I don't mind getting stones and wood etc again but the recipes? Now that I have the book I am mad I am missing them.
Yeah I know, I just was hoping it wasn't recipes! Other stuff I can get again but not sure I can get them back.
I'm just wondering why they wanted to have people lose some of their stuff when they died. At least give us a chance to get our stuff back. That's the whole point of fighting monsters: to have fun. Plus, it is a risk to fight monsters. It sucks when you die and you're making it even worse that you lose some of your stuff as well. Especially recipes.
Ohh, Ok, I probably wasn't close enough to the bench, and thanks for the no recipe tip. I didn't know. Edit: I actually found my problem, but It won't let me craft raw wool into yarn, to make the actual wool block. I looked at the crafting wiki..
Bust it open with a hammer You have a risk to lose some things (totally random). But you also have a chance that your items are left in the exact spot where you died so you might be able to get your stuff back. And make sure you stick those recipes in your craft book. If your craft book is dropped when you die you can build another one and it will automatically have all your old notes
Some thoughts from someone who hasn't played this type of game before and came to it with an open mind and zero expectations: First and foremost, the constant tapping is just bloody annoying. I simply can't see myself continuing to play this unless that aspect is drastically alleviated in some manner, no matter how good the game might be. I am enjoying the exploration aspect but don't have much idea of what's going on. Night comes and I find myself in almost pitch darkness with monsters dropping from the sky for no apparent reason. No chance to get my bearings or even figure out what's really happening. Moments later: dead. At least nothing is hitting me now so I can try to figure out how to make a torch. I make some but run out quickly, find myself in another dark area, moments later: dead. Now I can't make any more torches because I don't have any more coal, and I've no idea where I got some in the first place. Hoping for some kind of inherent logic I wander around aimlessly, tapping on various blocks that look like they might produce coal. No success, and the muscles in my wrist are beginning to gently suggest I might want to ease up on all the tapping. Look, I can sense some potential in this game, the exploration aspect as mentioned is intriguing, but currently, after a half hour or so I'm seriously questioning whether dropping $3 on this was a good idea.
Of course it still crashes, the purposes of the beta was to let me understand what happens so that I can fix it, then I'll deploy a fixed one and you'll give me feedback!
Lol, from the hundreds to thousands of games I've purchased on the iOS, this is probably the most complex one. Just built my first house along with some furniture. The beginner's guide is incredibly useful if you have no clue what you're doing. But yeah, this is the type of game that demands time investment. Looking forward to putting more hours into it. I still think the controls are whack though. Gabrien's impressions are pretty accurate for the most part.
Couple questions: I've heard about a beginners guide, where is this? Also, I can't seem to figure out how to view my craft notes again after picking them up. Any help would be appreciated.

First click options and then click "peaceful mode". no more monsters and it will let you get used to the game. Coal is found in dirt or rock blocks and looks like little black rock crystals. Try the beginners guide for tips:http://forum.pixbits.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=448 It seems like most want a tap/hold feature. Pixbits might implement it Stick with it a little longer, I think you'll really enjoy it once you get going Here you go mate: http://forum.pixbits.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=448 to view a note tap it if it's in the white square if it's in your backpack tap and hold, then when a little green box forms around it (after a second or so) let go to "use" it which will let you view it
