Awesome! Though I don't really understand why people give two hits about signs. But I heartily endorse any and all updates! (but not bugs; sorry bugs) I've gotten five of my friends to buy JJ. But I'm not done yet. Every update you provide, I'll get another friend to buy it. Even if I have to gift it to them!
A lot of people in our forum asked us for signs, so here they are Some users also like to do adventure maps and share them, i think that they will make good use of the signs Thanks for sharing our game with your friends.
I'd use signs for categorizing my chests so I don't have to look through them one by one to find out where I stashed the Maya biome blocks or the purple gem items. It's been driving me insane, so thank you.
how do they share the maps? email? will this functionality be built in at some point? that would be really cool
Very nice to see that Junk Jack won GOTY but not surprised as it really is a fantastic game. I can see why so many people like it and I hope more people here on TA now give it a try.
Congrats on game of the year. Definitely have had a ton of fun with it! Look forward to new update as well! Will the presents be going away? I need to clear some more underground then! Still haven't found a snow biome (if underground) oddly enough. But did find a head and made a snowman! How does one share maps and what would be the purpose? It would be great to visit worlds and gift treasures to friends though.
Pixbits told me through PMs that the holiday items will still spawn in worlds made after the holiday update. I'm speculating that they'll be made into chest drops. They've stated that this will apply to all seasonal items, as they don't like the idea of limited edition items. I'm rather pleased they took this stance on this matter, since I was really uncomfortable with the idea of potentially unobtainable items. I think it has something to do with downloading worlds that people have uploaded and replacing one of your world's files with theirs. I'm unsure about that, however. And a number of people have been sharing adventure maps in the Pixbits forums. I'd really, really like to try them, but I don't have easy access to a computer. I hope that Pixbits gives us some way to do this within the game itself someday. Also, since we're likely getting a fully working farming feature in the future, will those mechanics apply to worlds created prior that update? I'm working on completely stripping an entire world so I can have a blank canvas to work on and I'd be miffed if I can't grow cacti, bamboo and papyri on it.
Thanks for the answers! Great to hear they won't go away. I too don't like the idea of something that won't be attainable any longer - I would have been much more OCD stripping this world before I updated. I guess I don't understand then what an "adventure" map is then - if you share a world with someone then don't you share a file from their game on your game and the world is done already? Still am curious about the mailboxes and when they will appear!
For mailboxes, as we stated in our forum, we still need to add some crucial features that will be used for quests, especially regarding the reward system In the meanwhile just another sneak peek: next version will include explosives! Either throwable ones and placeable ones (that can be chain triggered to demolish whole buildings )
The map actually does have to be finished for that purpose. People who create adventure maps also create backstories behind them, which are slowly revealed to the player through a series of "notes". Since the game doesn't have signs yet, what they do right now is give the player a text file whose various portions can be read only when you reach a specific point.
