Seriously, if this game wasn't so damn good I would have deleted already. Lost my invent A 2ND TIME! say goodbye to my mythril pickaxe. YAWN.
For people who still having trouble with backing up like i had: -When game crashes, close app completely.Don't go play and exit cause it will save an empty inventory,at least that's what i had. -Start app and go to options.Press restore items. -Now go to worlds and press te green rebound button or whatever it is called. This will restore your last backup from your world. Since i been doing this i'm having very little problems with losing inventory items.Hope this helps.
You can restore worlds from the "load" screen, or you can restore items from the options screen. In other words, you don't lose anything by going to your last inventory backup, it's completely separate from the world saves. You would only need to restore the worlds if something had screwed them up, and I've not (knock knock knock ) encountered any problems with crashes and my worlds yet.
If you can speak Chinese keep digging. Of course I'm joking, depth isn't really an issue at the start. You won't need gold or mithril yet so stay nearish the surface and build up your stock of coal/rock. Just potter about chop a few forests down for wood and maybe build a simple dwelling. After a wee while of this you should have enough recipes to start getting ambitious and build greater things. Turn on peacefull mode in the option screens for the first few hours too.
Hehe, my Chinese (Mandarin) is terrible! Best bit is to play around and make a "home" on World 1, then pop out to World 2 and just chop down all the trees and strip mine the foreground/background. Feel free to use Peaceful Mode as well. As others have stated, you'll start getting recipes like crazy, reading those will give you an idea of what you'd like to build in World 1 - just let the mood take you wherever it goes! (The joy of a sandbox game...) Then when you start feeling comfortable, head back to World 1 and turn off peaceful mode so the baddies will keep you on your toes. Feel free to hop out to the other worlds to gather resources, as trees don't regrow.
Something thats been bugging me lately: I frequently use the zoom out feature deseigned for screenshots while I'm mining in order to figure out what areas I still need to get to. Does anyone know why the button for the far zoom out is not always there? I can't seem to think of any good reason for it to dissappear and I find myself checking to see if its back yet in order to map out my paths.
JeanReno is right. There is a cool down period of 5 minutes before you can use it again. I am not fully sure of the reason other than some things I read was it prevents "cheating" and looking for chests. I mean, I use it to find my way and plan a course. I want to head to dark areas to open them up - how would that be me looking for chests? And when full zoomed out, can anyone really SEE a chest? In the dark? Seems like that was taken into account to prevent "cheating" but there is a far bigger exploit readily available that to me is way more like cheating. If people can do that and increase their stock infinitely then who cares about a chest frankly. The zoom out feature is handy for those of us that want to explore the depths completely. Having to wait five minutes makes it feel cheap and more like a freemium game that anything else to be honest. It's not a "skill" or a "spell" that needs a cool down to use again - no it is a map for goodness sake.
Yikes, is the cool down really 5 minutes? I get too lost playing this game sometimes. I realized it must have a cool down, but there are times it seems to recharge very quickly and other times I can't figure out why it's still disabled. That said, I don't really see how it's particularly abuse-able and hope the cool down is either reduced or removed in a future update. It's useful for seeing where I'm at in my deep mining world, or how my large mansion looks since so much of the design is lost in the normal zoomed in view.
Yeah, but realistically, mapping a one-man, city-sized, chaotically-shaped mine shaft would be pretty much impossible without GPS. Or a buttload of string.
Thanks, but you DO lose one thing: time! I had build a gigantic mine network I wanted to keep, but my previous backups were kind of old and my inventory state got saved as empty.
That zoom out button IS my GPS! I too hope that the cool down is removed or at least reduced. All these backups and stuff have created an exploit that is far worse and this is an enjoyable helpful part of the game. So I hope the devs see this and agree.
