It's an old device, you can't do much when there are 40 sprites for items + 40 sprites for item counters + the game itself. I'll try to optimize it more but I guess that's just impossible for such GPU less devices. Maybe things will improve with tap to move mechanism that I'm developing (no drag'n'drop for most of the situations)
Figured I'd ask a second time. I'm pretty much for sure gonna pick it up in the next couple days anyways, but...is this on an intro special (i saw it somewhere i think on the pixbits website, and on the comments here i think too) that it was on a 'launch special'. Either way I'll probly pick it up though, but can anyone satisfy my curiosity?
Good to know about the crashing. As for the backups, in game button is for inventory AND he world, pausing backs up the world. BackuP button on the main screen backs up and restores the world only, not the inventory? I know it's simple for you guys, you designed it after all, but from an outside perspective, it's not so clear and there are no instructions on it. You've got 3 different ways to back up, different buttons to restore. You cant resort items from the pause menu, only from the main menu options. There's no explanation as to what delete items does, and I didn't know what to expect when I hit restore. So for some people, and I don't consider myself very dumb, it isn't really clear and there aren't any instructions. I messaged you about helping with beta testing, which I'd still like to do, but I'd be happy to help write a small help page on these functions.
That is something our users should care about on our wiki (wiki.pixbits.com). Being just two we can't do really everything. Oh well, I'll force XsX to care about explainations In any case you can restore inventory in a separate way from the world just because the inventory is shared, so it may happen that your inventory breaks while your world is still sane or viceversa: in this way you can restore just what you need without worry about reverting something else. Delete items just wipes your character, like a new start..
Does it also prevent you from crafting? Now that I've updated, I can't craft. At all. Can't even make planks. I have restarted the app, reloaded the .dat files, restarted the phone. No luck. I can't craft!
I've actually had a random crash today - one I've not seen anyone else mention. I was going into each world, pausing and backing up each one (are the "globes" on the left of the world select menu supposed to back the world up? Because they don't for me) and when I got to world one, I pressed pause and the game crashed. Nothing happened, I didn't lose anything (yay!) but the game just crashed.
I'm happy to help with that. It would be nice to have something offline for people that don't have Internet access. I love this game so much, and although I can't help out financially right now, but I can give you at least some of my time to help with things like this. As for the delete items, maybe change it to explain that it will delete items and reset the character in the warning. I agree that people should check out the wiki, but I don't think that most realize what info it'll have.
I am thinking about getting this on my iPad. Can you plant trees? Because I don't want to go half way around the world just to find trees.
I love it on my iPad, it looks great! No, you can't plant trees, unfortunately. But if you save one world, you can just delete and then recreate, refreshing everything.
Not at the moment, but inventory is taken from one world to another. You can just go to a new world, cut wood in it and you've got enough, regenerate another new world on top of that one. Wood is usually near in newly made worlds
I did indeed. No matter how I tried to restore the game, it still crashed whenever I tried to load any world. There was literally nothing I could do except a fresh install of the game to de-brick it. I've done that now, lost hours and hours of play time, but the game is good enough that I'm still playing it. Not quite where I was before the crash, but I should be back in a couple of days, assuming I don't have another game-bricking crash.
That's really strange, if you press the BACKUP button inside game your world is save in a parallel way and it is untouched so there is no reason to brick it. Same thing applies to items (that you can restore by options menu).. Of course you had to do the backup of a working world
Finally works completely on my 2G. And NO LAG. Thanks Pixbits! At the moment the achievements are what's keeping me going. It's good to have something to work towards while I collect stuff to build my dream house.
I'm getting a lot of crashes that lose some of my inventory. Fortunately the new backup feature works beautifully and I havn't lost anything. Good work chaps.
In any case getting lot of crashes is not a nice thing I'll need to keep working to get rid of them, but at least now you can crash in a safer way
Cannot craft a chest I'm following the chest recipe here: http://wiki.pixbits.com/index.php/Crafting I'm standing next to a workbench, I definitely have wood and a widget, and it doesn't work. Do I need to own/find the recipe for my book first? Thanks.
Alright I've got 2 things to share, First- does anyone else feel that the new item backup feature is too easy to abuse? My little bro borrowed by ipod and duplicated my mithril bars from 4 to 128. I cant bear to throw all of that out now, but the game feels somewhat cheapened now that i know how easy i could be making it for myself. Second- my bro encountered a frustratingly weird crash, now he had never backed up his world so thats his fault, but he randomly booted up his world that had his home and mine and the entire world was reset, and completely black toned, as in you could see trees and jack but even with a torch the entire screen had become monotone. Sadly he had started a new world before I could take a screenshot.
you are absolutely right, the backup feature has been implemented as a last-minute countermeasure to losing stuff. It will be surely changed as soon as everything is enough stable to not have something so much trivial. As usually cheating is something that you do just if you want to but having an easy temptation is not nice That's one of the strange things I'm investigating :/
I'm glad to see that the backup feature wasn't fully thought out over the developement cycle to turn out like that, it does quite work fine as a quick fix.
