Oh man I'm pissed. I picked up a floppy disk, examined it in the inventory, and the game crashed. I reload, and now none of my three worlds will load. Can't create a new one. Can't access anything but the top menus. Tried restarting the phone, closing all apps, nothing. If I reinstall I will lose everything. My game is bricked!
Hey guys from pixbits, awesome update! Not a single crash since 1.03 and i'm finally back deep underground. One thing i noticed though is that i now constantly throw my equipment away, did you change anything?Didn't happen to me before.Kind of annoying ,especially when a mitril pickaxe falls into the dephts^^.
Does anyone know how to get black cloth? I know that there is this black powder. But where can I get this from?
ah,finally the game works on 2nd gen devices played it all night long and i must admit that it's REALLY addictive! Thank you pixbits for your hard work to get the game working on the older devices
Did you try by using the in game backup feature? That's because time tothrow has been shortened, but this will change again with 1.0.4 when there'll be hold to break blocks So it's just temporary, don't worry! The same thing happened to me while playing yesterday.. long story: I have implemented almost everything in hold to break then we kept having problems with old devices so I had to disable that half-work to sent 1.0.3 and I forgot to set it back too
OK. I was wondering what the heck was going on. I've been chucking mithril picks down shafts and all manner of silliness. Glad it's going away.
Game crashed out on me while I was picking at regular grey rock deep underground. Reloaded and found all inventory items gone, craftbook emptied. It seemed random.
Grand to know the tap and hold mining mechanism will be in the next version; I've been waiting for it to be implemented before I started genuinely playing. One question, though: Do ores, gems and coal ever regenerate in the ground? If there's some form of regeneration, I'd actually make plans for a semi-permanent mining system instead of plundering a temporary world. And I still think looping the world and making it infinite are things worth looking into, if possible spec- and coding-wise.
I notice I am throwing the item in my hand more often too. I thought it was me doing something funny. Also it seems a little harder to break the blocks once in a while. Same kind of block and EXACT same tool and one time will be breaking like normal but once in awhile it will break and break, then reset, then break and break, then reset - and not if I stop tapping will it reset, just on its own. But definitely feel more secure with this update, played only when next to a computer and I could back up my files the last couple days so I am thrilled to be playing like crazy again!
Well first of all the universal update was going to be off in the future "sometime." Second of all, they have been working above and beyond at this point to fix the problem with older devices. Something any other developer would have said - what can I do? Get a new device - but they didn't. They worked and worked on it. Now that the problem with the older devices seems solved they can work on the list of things they were going to do with this one in the first place before the universal update. People are playing on iPad and say it looks and plays and feels great and just as good if not better than any other game in 2x. So give it a go.
I second this. Since Junk Jack's graphic style is a bit pixel-ish in the first place, there isn't much of a difference between playing it in 1x and in 2x.
I too am playing this on an iPad. I actually forgot its playing in 2x because it looks so damned good. I was all "hey, this game shows me my status bar still, cool... Oh wait." Honestly, these pixels look great at 2x, and beg the dev not to upscale them to a higher resolution as Age of Zombies: Anniversary did if they plan on taking this universal. AoZ:A lost so much of its pixel charm going high res.
I'm one of the few people on the planet that hasn't played Minecraft or Terraria, but I may give this a try once they put the hold-to-dig function in.
I hope you do, Pixbits did an awesome job with presenting the Sandbox genre to new players with the beginners tutorial. It quickly sets you up with a good fundamental understanding of how to engage your creativity and begin exploring and building. Truly an awesome experience! The sheer amount of discovery is staggering but never overwhelming. A+
I am still crashing quite often on my iPad 2. At least 2 crashes in the span of a couple hours. Thankfully I've been able to use the backup feature, which is too confusing for most people (when you back up your world, do you also back up your items? When you restore inventory, what is it restoring from?). And a few times I've recovered my inventory, I've gotten back what I've lost, but sometimes more. However what risks do I take when I press the button? It's not clear But the crashes are terrible, guys. All I was doing was swapping inventory from place to place. I am scared to play
Backup function is quite simple: in-game button backups either the inventory, either the world. Then if something fails you can choose to restore the backup of just the world (withthe green arrow button) or the inventory (from options). Regarding crashes unfortunately we had to rush 1.0.3 for devices that were unable to play yet. But we'll keep working on these weird crashed to understand what is causing them (and no, they don't happen on our devices, don't ask me why)..
