Well, I'm sure you can use it more fully with a jailbroken device, but it works much better than iExplorer did on my non-jailbroken devices. iExplorer loved to time out repeatedly. Spent more time plugging and unplugging devices to get it to work than actually using it. Switched to iFunBox and didn't look back.

iExplorer seems to lock up my PC more than once and force me to hard reset it, so I prefer to use iFunbox. I have never jailbroken an iOS device, I use these utilities just to back up and restore save files.

Anyone else found a block like this? I've played this game for a long time already, and I never came across a block like this. Did anyone else find an unusual ore block? ( See attachment )

If you're referring to the block just to the upper left of your character, that's a "double ore" block and, while uncommon, perfectly normal.

I played this like mad, then after a while I've stopped playing because theres too many damn mobs, even in the daytime it seems I'm getting one every few seconds when means my exploring and digging have almost totally stopped due to me constantly fighting or running back to pick up my items.

Seems my sword is doing very little damage also.. Getting rather irritating now.

Go to the game options and toggle Peaceful mode on. Then you won't have any harmful mobs bugging you.

Yeah, I know about that but I really don't want to do that. I quite enjoy battling them, its just at the moment the respawn speed for them seems way too high.

That's pretty cool! I've mined thousands of ores, and this is the first time I've encountered this. The randomness of JJX is awesome, that's what keeps me playing!

What's a good weapon for killing mobs?

I made a silver sword thinking it would be better than stone, iron or copper but still its very very slow at damaging enemies, let alone killing them.

is there a better weapon I can make? (Only materials I have are wood, copper, iron, silver and tin lumps)

Looks like you finally decided to "dig deeper" into the game ;)

One trick that you can use, when badly swamped, is to switch to another world. Return immediately back, and I believe the mobs should be gone.

Thanks but, I see that as cheating a bit, I just need a weapon that'll dispose of these although tbh the devs really need to turn down the mob spawn rate imo.

I think that's a silver sword you have. Or is it iron? I wasn't able to damage that golden armoured warrior, till I made as gold sword.

I don't have a problem of excess mobs. It does seem like you got a lot of mob to deal with in this pic. Even though you have trapdoors and seem to be placing plenty of torches too.

Yeah, I fired this up again after the update and found that while it seemed a slightly less annoying mob rate underground in Terraria, it seems 10 times more spammy above ground at night for some reason.

I've been watching videos of Terraria 1.2 and that game does so many things right which this game should learn from.

Here's a list of things which currently annoy me about the game:

    - Bombs have no effect on mobs

    - Water doesn't pour out of its basin if you open it downward, as in it isn't displaced, you just get an infinite stream of water to control, which I use to flood every area and neutralize the over the top spawning mobs, but that forces me to be an aqueduct engineer instead of an explorer. They took the minecraft approach to water here and I'm not sure it works. There should be two types of water in the game, water which can be displaced, and minecraft style water springs.

    - The ceiling for the sky is waaayyy too low. Being forced to put a waterfall on my house to keep mobs off it, I quickly found out that there is an absurdly low limit to the sky. This prevents you from building more interesting structures.

    - A magic bean suggests you should put this on land to have it grow up to a castle in the sky. Use in this game would have to be to create an elevator from the bottom up to the surface, but you'd most likely rather use a waterfall going down instead. Of course, if you use the magic bean on the ground, you'll quickly find it stunted in its growth at the low sky limit. Very poor information design with that one.

    - In multiplayer, can't both sleep in a separate bed to skip the night, unlike minecraft.

    - Could really use some type of stair block, would make running up and down hills much more pleasant

The game has many strong points, but the balance is way off in its mixture between Terraria and Minecraft.

It's a lot more work with a lot less levity, reward, and adventure compared to Terraria, and they should begin to look more at Terraria for inspiration than Minecraft, which seems to be stagnating in its evolution.

And honestly the idea that you have to constantly switch between world saves to save yourself from over the top mob spawns is absurd considering it has no representation as a necessity in the information design of the game.

If that is how it is intended to be, then have the decency to describe it in a tutorial.

It's quite clear to me that the game has only been play tested and balanced to this multi-world saves approach, but it is such horrible game design because of it.

Why would you want to be taken out of your world when it causes you to lose the sense of timing in the adventure and the conflict so that you can slip away to cheat essentially?

It's way too cheap a move and disappointing in balance because of it.

Mene, try a copper spear in that situation, but ideally just flood the place.

The ability to reset mob spawns back to zero by world switching is a side effect of how the game handles temp objects. It's also a munchkin tactic that, until today, I've never seen suggested, so why would it be in the tutorial? The tutorial is pretty clear what the right approach is: Don't be outside on the surface at night, or be prepared to spend the entire night fighting. This is how the series has been since Junk Jack 1.0 back in Nov 2011, not much point in pretending to be surprised in nigh-Nov 2013.

Let's just face the fact this game is not for you. It is NOt a serious game, it is NOT a "survival" game. You don't give the exact same rewards to someone playing on peaceful as you do to someone not playing on peaceful if you were designing it to appeal to the "serious gamer" crowd. The player who runs around naked in the dark on the surface of Magmar beating off mobs left and right has the same chance of "winning" at finding the cool rares as a 6 y.o. kid playing on peaceful who's dad bought them the planet unlocks to get to Magmar.

You play it because it's fun, and if it's not fun, don't play it.

Last I heard, they have suggested future updates, and all of these things could possibly be fixed/improved.

Much rather see the game reach its potential than fall short.

I slightly agreed with you before that it wasn't a survival game, but if Minecraft is a survival game, and this game basically mimics a ton of Minecraft's gameplay, then maybe this is a survival game after all.

I don't think your distinction holds up. I get that you're saying its a "just for fun" type of game, but Minecraft and Terraria seem fun to me too. At this point, you're in distinction without a difference territory.

Now, supposedly Pixbits rebuilt their dev system so that they could have more leverage for future changes, so I can't believe that they couldn't or wouldn't fix/balance/update things to make the game better.

I assume you want the game to stay exactly how it is for some odd reason? Even if it prevents Pixbits from reaching its potential with this game?

Also, in regards to the idea that since there is no difference in loot drops between peaceful and challenging modes, that it is therefore not a "serious" game and shouldn't be treated as one flies in the face of the existence of a "challenging" mode to begin with. Obviously Pixbits is attempting to design something serious for people who want to treat it seriously.
