Sync your previous iDevice with iTunes. Then just re-sync with your 5s. The game saves should transfer.
That only works if he set up the 5S using the same back up profile, which, I'm going to guess, he didn't do because otherwise the question would have never been asked because when he used the 5S for the first time it would have had everything on it already.. Fortunately, you can always restore the 5S to the original profile with iTunes and save will be transferred, but if the old device was never backed, well, that's a whole other hoop to jump through. All of which is to say, people should really figure out these things before getting a new device. Still running the "same" profile from 3 devices ago. Apple makes it incredibly simple to keep everything moving from device to device, but they can't magically beam the initiative to look up how to do this into people's heads.
Also you can plug in your original device, go to it in iTunes, click on Apps, then scroll down to File Sharing. Click on Junk Jack X and copy the saves to your harddrive. Then eject that device and plug in your new one. Follow the same steps, except this time copy the saves to your new device from your harddrive.
Another snarky, condescending comment from C.Hannum. Why don't you actually try and help the guy like the next poster did instead of being a jerk?
They really need to tweak the monster spawn rate in this, I'm now finding 80% of my time is fighting and corpse runs! whereas before 80% of my time was digging and exploring. I don't want to use peaceful mode, but when I get 7-8 mobs above me in the space of 1-2 mins, its getting too silly.
Interesting analysis of my psyche. I would like to thank you for your time spent writing out that first paragraph. Your assumption of me setting up the 5s as a new 'profile' (I believe the term you were looking for was user) is 100% correct. Not to mention the vague information you gave was of no use. I also find the second paragraph to be troubling. If you're going to insult me, (and others) you might as well get to it. Grouping and categorizing your way around the remark doesn't benefit you. I'm not going to waste time explaining to you the reasons why someone might want to set up a 'new user'. I'm going to let you think about it. Hopefully, you can up with something. Even if you have to use one of your devices to have Apple magically beam intelligence to the palm of your hand. You're at least capable of reading someone else's answer.
To everyone else, thanks for the help. I should have been more clear. The issue I seem to be having is that my files on the old come off into 2 folders. Worlds and Player. When I try to add the files to the new device, I am unable to select the folders and must select the individual files. Which seems to mess with the game since the files wouldn't be in the correct location? Plus, some files have the same name.
What I do is back them up through iTunes and then copy them back to the device with iFunbox utility. It's a pain in the ass, but it works.
I play JJX on my iPad. If I want give an exact copy of my game (including game worlds save data) to an iPhone user, would that be possible to do using iTunes? I am also curious to know why people use ifunbox to copy apps back to their device. Can't iTunes do that?
You can pick and choose what is synced over so if you're at all concerned about keeping game progress you would not consider setting up as a new user since many games cannot be moved over any other way as even transfer of the individual documents folders via explorer utilities is not supported for many apps. Whether you consider your reasons valid or not is not my concern, it IS a recipe for app data loss, so I figured I'd offer some input so you and others don't wind up in a similar position in the future, but I guess you're just too smart for me At any rate, if you took offense, so be it; I'm blunt, I'm not overly polite, but I do try to be helpful. I have spelled out very detailed step by step instructions on transferring saves to and from the game in this thread and in a sticky on the official forums. Wasn't going to type out half a page of stuff again because you didn't bother to search... http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2959156&postcount=813 http://forum.pixbits.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=14131 I love folks like you and the others who go out of their way to insult me directly while offering nothing to the thread. Your time is always more important than other people's time. Someone who answers questions and provides feed back day in and out on their time is rude, or snarky, or condescending because they don't drop everything to spell out the ABCs to every warm body who finds an active internet connection and a terminal somewhere in the world Maybe I could be kinder in my posts, maybe, in the abstract, I should even be kinder in my posts, but I then encounter the sort of entitled BS that permeates the internet and am reminded why I don't bother to go that extra distance.
iTunes only supports a flat file structure, JJX uses a folder with the nested world .dat files inside of it for Adventure worlds. You can move and restore stand alone worlds just fine with iTunes, you cannot, however, restore an Adventure world as the only thing that identifies a particular world file as being part of an adventure set is that it's inside a uniquely named folder for the Adventure set (the worlds are all generically named, Terra.dat, Xeno.dat, etc.).
As doesn't iFunBox, which is what prompted the question. If I remember right, you used to be able to move documents around, created folders, etc. in a previous version of iTunes when in the file sharing "window", but that is gone now.
Here's a quickie tutorial for moving adventure worlds into Junk Jack X. LINK (big pictures, didn't want to blow up the forum) 1) Download and install iExplorer 2) Plug in your device, launch iExplorer (demo mode will work fine for this) 3) Expand Apps, Junk Jack X, then Documents 4) Drag the {world_name} folder and {world_name}.dat files from your OS to iExplorer 5) Launch Junk Jack X Steps 2,3 and 4 could be used to export an Adventure world as well.
Could be its changed, been a while since I've used it. It used to have funtions for sideloading cracked apps and couldn't view much unless the device was jailbroken.
You clearly have not used a jailbroken device with it then. Yeah it works for the non-jailbroken iPhones; but like he said, it has much more use for those that ARE jailbroken. I personally have used iTools over iFunbox, but they both work the same.
