A developer from another game told me that as of September 2nd, Apple was having some sort of issues for a few days with approving and accepting updates so not sure if that might be part of the delay. Even the front page of the app store is a day late in being updated.
This game is very difficult to figure out. Is there a way for me to pick my carpenter table back up or do I have to leave it behind? To equip armor do I have to move it into the quick slots first? I found no way to move it directly from inventory to my body. Last night I got stuck in a situation where pressing Continue on the main screen immediately made the game crash, after about 5 or 6 tries it finally opened my game and has been okay so far since then.
I have a pretty basic question for all of you about crafting. How do you craft stronger tools and weapons beyond wood and stone? I have mined copper, iron, tin, and silver thus far and I have also made ingots and bars out of each of these metals using the forge and anvil; however, I see no new options showing up in the crafting book? What am I missing?
Sounds like you haven't found the recipes yet for the metal tools. In advanced mode for crafting use the following recipe on the anvil to unlock some of the tools. I I x I W x x x W Where I is iron ingot, W is wood plank, and x is blank spot. That should craft and unlock iron pick axe. x I x I W x x x W That is a hammer. Only two I can remember at the moment. If you look at the wood and stone recipes, you should be able to extrapolate the recipes for the rest of the metal tools based on the two recipes I gave you above.
Anyone up for some multiplayer? I haven't tried it yet but it sounds fun. Also, how do you encrust gems into armor and tools? Just found my first diamond.
Use a hammer to remove addons. As for armor, you drag the item to the appropriate equipment slot next to the character portrait.
Breeding is strange. I have 33 wheat fields which when constantly being mined are not enough to run a sheepfold. The sheep eat too fast. Maybe I've overlooked something, but that's what the tutorial says: feed sheep with wheat.
I generally agree with C.Hannum's thoughts on the game, but I respect that Midian and others like playing it in another manner. I hope that a hard mode is added to the game after the spawn rate is fixed, cuz it'd be a shame if *less* people could enjoy it. I mean, IMO, half the point of JJX being a sandbox game is that we all get to decide, independently of each other, what kind of game it is -- a building game, an exploration game, a combat game, etc. So long as the sandbox allows it, we all get to have the experiences we want. None of us are playing the game "wrong" and it's kind of silly to say so.
Yep I just decided to slaughter my sheepies. R.I.P. wooly mammoth, wooly Mary, and cottonball, you were too time consuming to be kept alive.
I think I posted on the Pixbits forum somewhere in favour of additional difficulty levels. A "Hardcore" mode with a hunger meter (food finally becomes necessary!) would be brilliant. Of course, I get the whole appeal of focusing more on the build than the survival too, which is why I've put a couple hundred hours or so into Minecraft creative mode with my friends.
You need 4 gems to make a cut gem at the tinkerer table: OXO XOX OXO X's are gem pieces. Then put it in your quick slot, tap on it and then tap on the piece of armor you want to encrust. I'd be down for MP tomorrow, if you want. Send me a PM.
Good to hear! It would give the game greater longevity for me, too. It's going to be a long time before I get all the crafting and exploring out of my system, but at some point I'm going to want to go aroung killing stuff, too. Speaking of which, how do I get primitive silk? I spent quite some time killing golden spiders on Seth yesterday (just essential resource gathering, mind you) and didn't get a single drop.
I've been finding this game sort of frustrating with these monsters coming at me until I turned on Peaceful mode. I'll stick with this for now.
I think the key issue is that while there's no "wrong" way, per se, to play, the game engine itself does have things that it does very well, things that it does not as well, and things it does only sort of. Combat and mobs fall under the "not as well" header. And survival as an actual framework for gameplay is firmly in the "only sort of" box
Ahh cool, thanks. I was trying to make pliers to for a jewelers table. That must be just in the old game. I'll send you a pm tomorrow for some MP
It is what it is I got this game based on all the great feedback its gotten, but I think this isn't my type of game. I've never played minecraft, etc so this is my first foray into these "crafting" games. As a newbie, I found that: 1. Its hard to fight, since to hit a mob I end up covering up the screen with my hand/finger (I'm on a 4S) 2. There are so many ingredients, and things to make, that with such pixel art, I have a hard time differentiating everything. Well, I can't say there was any misrepresentation of the game by either forum people or the developer. It is what everyone is describing. But I think this genre just isnt for me. btw, (off topic) but when I post to a forum like this, how to I track anyone who replies to me? If I use Disqus on the main page, I get a notification of replies, but when I post in the forums, do I have to keep searching to see if someone replied? Thanks!
I like to stick with wood chests only. Lots of them. I don't like my chest having pages. I was hoping a "bottomless" chest might have inertial scrolling I tried figuring out encrusting on the old wiki and it talks of a Jeweller's Table and gem-sockets. So I had given up. But the method outlined above seems doable.
