Can someone please explain what portals are and what happens once I find them? I have two adventure worlds. One is for me to mine and the other is where I am trying to build my home and may do farming later etc... If I find three portals in the adventure world I place them in a triangle and open a new world? What happens to my existing world? Does it impact my other adventure world that I started for my home and farming? Will I just have a new world to mine etc...? Conceptually I understand portal pieces allow me to go to other planets but what puzzles me is what happens to existing worlds. Also if I open another planet via portals can I begin a new adventure in the new planet or do I still start in terra? Finally do I lose my portal pieces once I use them or are they part of my inventory?
When you place a portal in your adventure world and travel through it, it still exists on the other side for you to return back to Terra. So if you have a file named "Adventure1" (which is default) then you'll be able to find portals to every planet and visit them all freely in that single save. The mining save won't be affected at all. I believe once you visit a new planet in adventure you can also start a creative save file in those worlds, but adventures always begin in Terra.
Also, you can generate a stand alone world of any planets you've unlocked. The stand alone versions won't contain any portals..
I'd love to play a game of junkjack with some peeps I'd love someone with a full crafting setup so we can start the adventure (or at least a house with a crafting table) I've got tons of mithril I could give somebody to make their own tools if they want it. My Game Center username: SLANTED/bread
Okay, can you find the portal pieces while playing in peaceful mode? I rather enjoy just mining and building without the stupid mobs (which spawn way to often in my opinion). But I haven't found a single portal piece yet.
Tried out the Multiplayer today. Matched up with a random player on (Magma?) planet. It was pretty futile because my noobish weapons and tools were unusable there. I have decided to stick with adventure mode for a while, till I unlock atleast one planet. I must add that the player was friendly. Although I decided to quit when he suggested that I let him blow me up with TNT.
Same here. I think it would be better if players had the same level of items and planets. I wanted to play with another noob and left when I saw the other player's high end equipment.
I think that other player was being friendly and now wants to grief you. If you get killed from the bombs/TNT or anything, you will lose all your items that's in your bag.
Yes, that did cross my mind. Although I had died and re-spawned a couple of times already. So he probably knew that I had nothing in my inventory. By the way, I would keep my worn items and quick slot items upon death, right?
If he "suggested" it, maybe he just wanted to do it for fun. Yes, you keep your equipment that you wear and everything in your quick slots. You only drop the main inventory and, for whatever reason, your ammo from the ammo slot. It's generally a good idea that if you find something rare or important like a portal piece, to put that in a quickslot so you can't lose it when you die.
I FOUND THE WAY TO SURVIVE GRIEFERS(But it costs one extra dollar) Buy the Giga Blast Helmet. I tried falling down my really tall vine tree and I still survived. I bombed myself in the testing area I survive. Make sure you have the red, green, and yellow gem crust on your clothings all together to not get griefed by griefers!
Note that there's also a normal Blast Helm that is dropped by the black slimes which protects from explosion damage. And an array of things that give fall damage immunity like the weird feather necklace and primitive silk tunic.
Dunno the actual rate of it. I've had three drop through normal play, so it's doable if someone wants it enough. But as always with drops it relies on luck.
