This is a bit of a controversial tip. It's kinda like saying the easiest way to finish an FPS game is with god mode and no-clip turned on. Of course it is, but you've also removed a good chunk of the strategy, excitement and sense of achievement. For this same reason, I prefer using torches over buying the mining helmet. Mining should require strategy... the danger is kinda what makes it fun. If you want to blast through and unlock everything in as little time as possible, play in peaceful. If you want the full experience, take the lows with the highs and get killed occasionally. Survive. Terra is the first planet in Junk Jack.
Before I have to rebuild everything: Is there any benefit in not building on mud background? Because building on mud or whatever natural background would basically double my stone bricks and still look just as well. Thanks in advance.
I actually always use dirt behind any blocks I build with.. saves my resources And just to let all you guys who are suffering from all the multiplayer griefing know, the next update will include "an option in Misc which disables dropping items upon death when playing as client in automatch games. And a cooldown of 60 secs that prevents you from dropping your inventory while dying just after entering a world (either single or multiplayer)"
As some others pointed out, it's about goals *you* set, the game isn't going to hold your hand and throw quests at you (although the GC achievements that are being internally worked on and tested will lend some form to those who need a nudge). FWIW, I bought the original JJ the week it came out in Nov 2011 and it never left my device and was played on and off all along. YMMV of course ----- The fix seems sort of half effective, they are adding an option that will prevent you from dropping anything in your inventory upon death when you join as the client player. This will mitigate the asshats who are hosting games on world's they've set up to be death traps for the joining player, but does nothing for the other 999 ways to be a richard. The big effect I see from this change is that the griefing minded players will go on the offensive and join worlds with the intent of killing the host and destroying their stuff instead of waiting on victims to come to them. In the long run, people are just going to have to get smart about hosting or joining random games. ----- Man do you have that backward. If you want danger, try mining with just the mining helmet and no torches, the number of enemies that will spawn in the huge amounts of open darkness you've created will jack your behind in no time. The mining helmet is, at best, an aid, it is no replacement at all for torches or other permanent light sources that keep mobs from spawning.
Nope, this is the right forum. You missed the little "X" in this one. And, I didn't mean Terra by TERRARIA. It says that when you create a world it shows that the Earth is called TERRA. Anyway I don't have Terraria.
Does this game have some stability issues? I experience random crashes when opening the inventory or crafting menu. All progress is lost except for your inventory. Hope this gets fixed soon.
Thanks for the tip, I will try it out in adventure mode. In regards to multiplayer, the first match I played the guy killed me, hoping to scrounge my dropped items. Unfortunately for him I had made sure to deposit all of my items in my world before I had left.
That's what I do, I don't host or join a game without depositing items in my storage world. Anything I need for multiplayer goes in my quick slot
The added benefit of using crafted blocks instead of dirt as background blocks is that it's an added safeguard against mobs spawning inside your house or structure. I always dig out and use crafted materials as my background for my house. It beats going crazy later wondering why mobs or animals are inside and having to tear everything out and rebuild.

Nah, torches all the way. Used sparingly, on a budget. Never quite placing enough to prevent mob spawns. Risk of running out and mining in total darkness. New question, people! When you unlock a new planet, is it possible to start there in a new adventure mode, or do you always begin on Terra? I'm moving portal pieces over to my build save, so I'd need to start a third file and find all of the pieces on Terra a second time in order to travel to a mining version of the next planet. Which would then repeat for each new planet until I'm completely sick of starting on Terra and working my way through. Unless... there are more than three pieces to find on one world on each planet?
More than three pieces can generate in a world. And you can't start an Adventure world anywhere but Terra. However, portals can be broken down and you can take them to other places. So for instance, you can carry Seth pieces, make a new adventure world and immediately jump to Seth. When you're done with the world, you can jump back to Terra, remove the Seth portal and take the pieces wherever you want.
Ah, that makes sense. It would have been pretty annoying if you'd had to keep starting new adventure in order to move the pieces over every single time. Thanks!
So far my crashes are gone. I have removed the checkmark from the game option "Keep last slot empty". I'm not 100% sure if it's a coincidence or not, but I had no crashes before and after using that option.
Not a coincidence. If you guys are experiencing inventory and crafting crashes to avoid the issue until the next patch is released please disable the "Keep last slot empty" option.
I have 2 Seth pieces and that's because someone left them in my base world by accident. I've been looking for a 3rd piece for soooo long
