By "encrust" I mean when you tap-hold a cut gem in your inventory and put it on your gear or weapons to apply an effect. Different gems have different effects. Increasing durability is one of them, or increasing damage reduction, or immunity to lava, and so on. If you want a Minecraft comparison, it's not as complex as there are no levels and less different effects (six gems, times two since they do different things on armor vs. weapons). On the other hand, weapons and equipment are overall more complex in JJX as specific items can have specific effects all on their own; JJX also has one equipment slot more (for a trinket). I'd argue that while Minecraft's enchanting is more complex, choices you make are more meaningful in JJX. In Minecraft you only choose between enchantments but you can use diamond items for everything. In JJX you may find yourself in a situation where e.g. you can only gain an effect you want from a piece of armor with little protection. So even when you can make titanium armor, you might still have a reason to wear a silk shirt and cloth boots depending on your style of playing.
Oic ty! I guess ill pick up an itunes tomorrow as buy the game. Ima be incrusting my stuffs :3 There are no game breaking bugs though right? I remember when i bought JJ at launch it had the bug where when the game crashed your progress got erased
If there is a game breaking one I haven't found it yet. There is a rare crashing bug that's tied to the "keep last slot empty" option so you might want to not turn that on until the update is out. One of the devs posted a while back in this thread that the next update will fix this. Apart from that the most serious bug I know of is that on iPhone 5 the background isn't drawn correctly and you get black bars, which is also supposed to be fixed in the next update...
I've noticed a bug related to lighting, if you have a personal lighting item (trinket/helm) and destroy any lighting fixture close to you then your light is extinguished as well. It is only resumed when you start moving.
There is a very rare bug related to wonky multiplayer connections that can result in loss of your worlds that XsX (dogxsx here) has been working to track down. Otherwise, as you note, the worst thing in the game is the crashing bug when you have simple crafting on, keep last slot empty enabled, and a full inventory and go to craft - since that's rather easy to avoid, not the end of the world. The skybox issue on widescreen devices is purely cosmetic and, for most people, barely noticeable since the right bar is under the quick slots and the left is only visible if you're not focused on your character.
Is there no Wooden planks block in JJX? I tried using the 4-planks recipe, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a new arrangement for making it?
There are still wooden planks blocks. You can make them in Spoiler the carpentry bench by combining 4 wooden boards. Like this: ( - is nothing, x is a wooden board ) - - - - x x - x x
I bought the ENTIRE CRAFTING CATALOG BOOK and the mining helmet. Well it says you can make wooden plank blocks. Do you have the: "Wood Planks" recipe? If not, try searching for crates. They might hold a recipe note. If you found a recipe, touch and hold the note to add it to your crafting book. (Sorry I don't know how to add a photo with my iPad)
Thanks! I don't know why I assumed it would be something you make with bare hands. I like my walls made of wood plank blocks
This may have been answered in this thread already, but when playing in multiplayer can people take whatever they want out of your chests? Can they destroy your creations? If they leave with your items do you get them back when they leave? I just want a little more information before I share my home I spent so much time on.
Tbh, the main reasons I'm holding off on getting this are the controls and block placing mechanics. I don't like that you have to place a background block before you can place a solid block.
It's not a big deal. The same blocks are used for both, unlike Terraria, so placing both takes about half a second, if that. The only downside I can think of is that if you don't want to "waste" blocks on the background then you might want to mine background blocks as well as foreground ones, which will wear down your tools faster. Alternatively, use dirt as a temporary background for all of your buildings and replace it gradually as you stock up on your preferred block. Controls are great too. Virtual sticks suck.
The controls in junk jack are actually pretty good. I haven't bought terraria because I have it for the pc but I know for a fact that junk jack has better controls than the minecraft port. You should give it a shot.
Ok, thanks for the tips. I suppose that I should get it, and even if I don't like it, I'm supporting a great indie studio.
I wonder if Junk Jack X gets boring as quickly as Terraria. I played Terraria for like 3 days, and I got all high end armor and have seen everything. It was fun but I thought I had bought a game that could be played for months.
