You use craft notes. They're consumables that add recipes to your craftbook. Hold your finger on them for a moment then release to use them. If you die, everything you're carrying that isn't in your equipment or hotbar is dropped on the ground. If you leave the world or take to long getting back, it will despawn.
You will only lose items in your main inventory AND in your ammo slot. You keep equipment you wear and stuff in your quickslots and things that you're not carrying around (such as those stored in chests) are unaffected anyway. The items you lose also aren't destroyed immediately. You just drop them. If they don't fall in lava and you don't leave the world, they'll hang around for a few minutes so if you can get back fast enough you can recover them.
The Junk Jack wiki for the first game seems to still have a lot of relevant information in it. Some things look a little different, and some crafting recipes differ, but a lot of the basics are in place there, or so I've found. It helped me get started, since I didn't really delve into the first game all that much. Otherwise I'm assuming someone will, in time, get to getting a proper guide up!
The tutorial is pretty comprehensive, did you all read through that? Any specific questions that it leaves unanswered? I mean other than recipes. Those are meant to be discovered as you play. Regardless, many of the recipes from the JJ1 wiki still work or work in a similar way.
Wow, my luck finding portal pieces finally ran out in Alba. The first piece took forever to find, the second one was quicker but the last one was almost halfway across the map -_- But thanks to all that spelunking I'm now overflowing with Mithril, Antanium, Titanium, Diamonds and even a few statues.
Heh. Maybe Xeno will treat you better =p I'm currently using titanium tools and going through Magmar. A black demon from above is not fun for the unsuspecting passerby... It's a cool place, though.
Yea i have read all of the tutorial pages, i think in due time i will grasp it. So far so good on that account
I hope so too! Have you encrusted anything with diamonds yet? I'm not sure which of my armor/accessories will stick with me the most so I'm not too keen on experimenting.
Well, no not really. I'm not sure what I want to use on tools. For my equipment, I'm using titanium, blast helm and a feather necklace. A sapphire, topaz, ruby and emerald are encrusted on my equipment. Nothing on the necklace. So I have immunity to fall damage, lava, acid, explosives and infinite breath. I've not put anything on tools so far because I'm just really not sure what I want to use x.x Mainly a toss-up between amethyst and diamond. Amethyst on a weapon would probably make some of the Magmar mobs go down faster. I have no idea how useful diamond is or isn't on tools =/ I might give it a shot soon. I have more than enough gems to play around with...
Then you're probably not going to be happy with this one because the only three significant changes is that there's 6 extra slots in your "bag", they've now given chests a tab such that if you're standing near a crafting table and a chest containing crafting materials you can switch back and forth without opening and closing the chest, and you can now remove everything in the crafting grid back to your main inventory by tapping the hammer tab a second time. An optional change that does reduce inventory manipulation is simple crafting because you don't have to arrange recipe ingredients on the grid, but you also lose those 9 slots as overflow when mining. Otherwise, it's the same inventory system you've come to love (or hate in your case ).
Farming and cooking, like anything else in the game, are done largely for the sake of doing it. I wouldn't mind seeing them extend the system, but I'm still happy with the kitchen and brew cellar I made myself in the first game as well as the quest to finally get hops so I could actually brew beer in my brew cellar. My greenhouse next to my mansion was pretty cool too It's, as a wise man I once knew said, "something to do" For me, it's one of those things that kept the game interesting because you could do more than just mine/gather and build, you could switch things up and spend some time working on your farm as well.
Not particularly detailed, but this is a good write up for beginners or prospective players: http://forum.pixbits.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=13509
JJ1 has that feature, it's just behind a separate button. Like the quick stack into a chest that's hidden behind the chest tab now, used to be a separate button too.
So I'm guessing you can't restore items in this game, probably to prevent people from duping objects?
Yes and no. They did remove the a little too convenient [backup -> place all valuable items in a chest -> restore personal inventory -> place all valuable items in chest -> restore personal inventory... <repeat until sick of doing it> PROFIT!] exploit. However, the same general mechanic is still present via save scumming with the iTunes file management feature. For better or worse, the same feature that allows players to transfer worlds between devices, make legitimate backups, and share non-exploitative worlds with others also allows people so inclined to dupe to infinity and beyond with a computer and iTunes. Can't stop duping without losing a lot of good stuff and I give Pixbits the thumbs up for splitting the difference.
As a total newbie I found this guide from jump jack useful! --Junk-Jack-Beginners-Guide---*UPDATED-FOR-1.2.4* http://forum.pixbits.com/viewtopic.php?t=448
Bought JJX. Loving it so far, but this annoys me: Connects to random host Falls down hole Dies Loses all stuff "Host has disconnected"
