I'm having trouble placing a background in my house, I've managed to place it everywhere apart from behind where I'd already placed some chests and a workbench. Is there a way to move those or place the background behind still?

Use a hammer to remove your workbench and chests and then replace them after adding the background.

I found a purple chest locked with a copper lock. I have a heap of copper keys from crates, so I unlocked it just fine, but all I've got is an iron hammer, and that won't open it. Anyone know what type hammer I'm going to need to crack this egg?

Thanks everyone for your help! Can't wait to download this tonight a d okay it over the next couple of days!

Suggestion for best place for guides etc... I found the wiki which seems good but is it actually for the original junk jack or does everything carry over from junk jack to junk jack x?

Has anyone else tried Terraria? Seems to be outselling this game!!!

The best place would be the official JJ forums.
    http://forum.pixbits.com

Terraria is good as well, but it's a completely different experience. It's much more focused on combat and is more like a 2D RPG with crafting elements to it. If you can afford it, I'd say get both.
The reason it's selling more is because of the name.. it's a much more well known game compared to JJX.

Haha, I just found lava. I almost dug right into it from below, because it looked like a bright red, candy-colored Tetris block. "Oh, what new brick is this!"

This is the no-water, no-ladders mining pattern I use, if anybody's interested:

This next image shows it more clearly. Simply dig the green route on your way down, then cut out the red X's as you head back up. No risk of accidental fall damage in either direction:

If something catches your eye, dig out of the pattern via the sides of the red X's so as not to break the staircase.

Obviously it wears your pick down more than water and ladders, but somehow I prefer it like this.

I am surprised the DL size for this is so large...? I don't have minecraft mobile and have never played it but that DL is under 6mb and this is over 55mb?

It will probably be a year before I hook up to iTunes on a computer so ill just chalk it up to a fluke, I've had no issues since. Love the game!!

Or you can use this method which requires less digging ;)

    Neat, thanks.

I started off that way, but kept falling to my death. My method was intended to be the least amount of digging with no risk of falling. If there's a better way I'd like to know :)

In fact I'm not even sure how to jump downwards... I'm sure the tutorial says it's a diagonally-down swipe but it never seems to register for me.

Did you just take a time machine from 1996 or something?

55MB for a 2D game filled with hundreds of unique sprites and textures is tiny.

The under 6MB for MC? One, it's 3D; outside of textures, 3D graphical objects are basically just lines of text in a file, and the textures in Minecraft are both lower resolution and lower in number than JJX. Two, it's Minecraft PE, a lazy, half arsed rip off of the fan base if ever there was one. A better comparison is a developed 3D X-Craft game like Survivalcraft, which is 25MB (but, again, 3D).

    @C.Hannum

I'm not a very knowledgable person when it comes to size if games and know that 55mb is not large compared to many other games that can be as large as 1-2gb but was just curious on how minecraft pe is so small.

I know understand the size scale and high res vs low res etc....

FYI, not all of us are knowledgable about game sizes and sacrcasm isn't really that necessary.

From my experience they tend to concentrate at a specific depth. After finding the first piece I start mining sideways, placing torches in unreachable caverns along the way. With this method I've had luck finding all 3 pieces within 15-20 minutes of the first for both Seth and Alba. Also, only one of the 6 pieces was in a biome, all the others were in simple caves. So it's not necessarily a good tactic to gravitate towards the well-lit biomes when viewing the zoomed out map.

No idea, but they seem to be treasures as they have the same colored outline as other rare treasures like the Jack Phone, Cute Dino etc. You can display them on shelves.

Game crashes for me if I open the crafting panel with a full inventory. Running iOS 7 beta 6 on an iPhone 5. I've lost so much progress from repeatedly doing this on accident that I can't play any longer.
