I'm new to these games and took the chance to get both this week, I haven't spent a lot of time on JJX yet but have been running around collecting things and messing around but ready to start setting up camp and crafting. But am I missing something? I have loads of wood I've cut from trees and trying to build a house yet whatever I place when placing wood it seems to be in the background rather than being an actual block.
Alba is so pretty, I think I might move my home over to it. Moving all those chests might be a little too much work though lol
The world has 2 layers. A background and a foreground. When blocks are placed, they always go to the foreground first. (If empty) Also, wood is a very valuable resource in the beginning. If your just starting out I'd recommend using dirt or stone to set up for first base of operations.
Is this a biome or did you create the area? I love how it looks like it's been taken straight out of one of the 2D Castlevania games.
Pretty much as far as I am. I get bored if I pump too much time into these games in one burst, plus I've been helping other people mine a bit too.
Total newbie and have been reading both this and Terraria's forum. I want to only buy one if these games since I don't have much time to play games!!! I've decided on this one especially since the junk jack wiki is extensive and the producers seem to truly care about their fans! Questions 1) what is adventure vs other mode(s)? Which one is best to begin in etc... 2) it sounds like you can have more than one "works" might be the wrong term and the character can go back and forth to whatever "world" etc... Can each world be different in the sense that one is adventure and the other is not?
It's a biome! It's a dungeon, the stone around it looks like a dirty version of the stone around the library biome. Inside there's keys hanging, jail cells, and a guillotine! Found my last portal piece there so that's why I built my portal there.
1) Adventure mode starts you off in Terra and you can find portal pieces to unlock new worlds. You can also generate standalone worlds that cannot contain portal pieces and are locked to that one dimension/planet. You have to have used the appropriate portal in adventure mode to unlock generation in this way(or you can use the IAP that automatically unlocks them all). 2) You can have multiple worlds and they can be of varying types. Of course, if you're hunting portal pieces you should focus on adventure worlds.
Adventure mode is where you'll be able to find portal pieces and travel to and from different planets. Once you've unlocked a planet in Adventure mode, you'll be able to generate it in other modes such as creative etc. Your inventory is carried over to all worlds that you generate/travel to, with the exception for worlds generated in creative mode.
Youll automatically start in adventure mode. In adventure mode you start out on "Terra" (Earth). You can find portal pieces during your digs, usually the "biome" areas (mushroom kingdom, library, dungeon, etc.). When u find the three pieces, you put them in triangle formation and it creates a portal in the center. Each plant has portal pieces for only one planet (the "next" planet). Not sure how many planets there are. I'm on Seth, the 2nd planet. Terra (1st) has Seth portal pieces, Seth has Alba portal pieces, etc. reeeeaaaaallllly really cool stuff. Every planet is unique in almost every way and it's awesome being able to discover new planets entirely. You can create as many "worlds" as you want. If you choose adventure, it'll always be Terra bc it starts there. You can also choose Terra as a planet, which is stand alone and won't have portal pieces. You're character stays the same through all worlds so you can create a new world as an easy way to find more resources. Also, you can create multiple adventure worlds as an easier way to find more portal pieces, but you only have one character, so you can find pieces and bring them back to your adventure world wih your house and stuff and build it there. As you built more portals and make it to new planets, you'll unlock that planet to make as a standalone world. I've made it to Seth so I have it as an option to make a stand alone world. And when you discover really cool stuff or make something awesome, i always freak out with excitement, especially finding a biome for the first time and making a portal. Trust me, this game is much better than Terraria. Oh, and don't even get me started on the multiplayer. World selection screen:
