I decided on JJX over Terraria since I have Terraria on PC. JJX is a lot grittier than JJ. Very unforgiving. Die and you lose (it says drop, but the stuff is gone when it takes time to get back) everything not worn or in one of the use slots. I like that. It makes it more important to be careful. It has only crashed for me on Continuing a game after exiting (and it was in the background). A restart gets in with no problem.
You have a few minutes. Most of the time I can get back in time if I built a proper path. Makes everything slower of course but I like that you can take these precautions if you want to. I also like losing the inventory but not gear and quickslots, I think that's a nice balance between punishment and frustration, nobody would use rare items otherwise. Be careful on other planets. I managed to accidentally go through the portal after I died, since you spawn there and I was trying to hit something with a sword by tapping near my character... and going through a portal instantly destroys your dropped items as the world is unloaded.
So in the previous game you could take a piece of wood turn it into a plank then planks into a block of wooden planks to use in construction for say your house. I can get wood and make planks but have no clue how to make these other blocks for constructing homes. Anyone have any luck?
Experiment with wood and boards with a carpentry bench. Two wood diagonally makes some boards. Four boards in a square makes a plank block. Two boards in a row makes a wall. Etc.
I don't think any of the main stuff in the game is terribly rare but it is terribly random . It's why we see people talk about spending 4 hours in 3 different worlds with no iron, another person posts they have twice as much iron as copper and hundreds of iron at that. I've still not found a single portal piece but that's fine. There were statues in the first game present from the early days of the game that I never found all the pieces for even though I had multiples of some sections, that's just how it goes. ------ That "grittiness" was added to the original at some point as well. I hadn't read the patch notes, had the unfortunate circumstance of a bomb chucking mob blowing up my ladder that ran from the base rock to the surface with me on it within 10 minutes of starting playing after the update and lost everything I had on me - about threw my device through a wall because I was not expecting it. Was always much more careful after that about how much stuff I carried with me on my person after that as well as making sure to always have cloth squares at the bottom of all mine shafts. ------ As for crashing issues, it's weird. Never had one crash throughout the beta, but the release version has crashed, not enough that it's an issue, but after never seeing a stability hiccup for all that time it was surprising.
Thanks. I guess I just didn't expect the change and relied too much on what I knew from the first game. This is an A+ title so far but I expected nothing less. Did try online once so far and my friend couldn't connect for some reason so will try again later.
Someone suggested on the official forums, and it makes sense, that people are mostly trying to join instead of host because nobody wants strangers messing up *their* world. Then consider that a number of the people hosting are doing so on worlds they've created death traps for the other player so they can steal their stuff when they die and maybe you weren't so unlucky after all
I went forever with just two sapphires. Now I'm at 13 with one cut and socketed. It's the only gem I'm using at the moment, too lol. Sapphire's glow seems slightly brighter than the gold essence amulet also, I compared it earlier. I'm not aware of any way to remove gems and the collector in me won't let me use a gem on a rare drop which is what most of my current equipment is... So only two of my items can have gems and I dunno what to put in my other piece. Amethyst gives no apparent bonus on armor, so I'm thinking it might be increased drop rates or something but I don't know.
I am absolutely loving the artwork in this game, looks gorgeous on an iPad 4. It's always a joy to find a new biome because of the beautiful new things to find there.
Anyone else new want to play? Brand new and RichRuzz on GC. Also is it possible to change hair color?
LOL, yea I noticed this after someone pointed it out so I'm pretty mucho lways hosting on a map I'm not using as my home base Hilarious about the death traps though.
