Man I played tons of the first game so I must have a brain fart but I can't for the life of me find out how to make wood planks using the wood I have.

    Welcome to Seth!

I found all three pieces of the portal in the same world, and within 10 minutes of finding the first one. Once you've located one piece, just start mining directly sideways in either direction. The pieces seem to spawn at a very specific depth.

I'm still pretty new to Minecraft-type games. I remember playing Minecraft Pocket Edition and having fun with it for a few short minutes. I never played it again though.

I also completely passed on Terraria and Junk Jack. I guess I just didn't see the "fun" in these building games 'cause I didn't get it.

Well, I decided to buy Junk Jack X just to give this kind of game another go. Sandbox is it? Well, I can tell you that in the first five minutes, I regretted purchasing it simply because I didn't take the time to go through the tutorial and actually learn how to build everything. I kept getting killed by every monster and didn't understand why they'd appear inside a cave that I dug myself into with closed entrances on both sides.

That's until I finally figured out how to "craft" and actually build doors. Yes, DOORS! Wow. Once I got that done and made my own weapons and even the furnace thing for cooking, the basics to what I've been wanting from this game have come into place. I'm now addicted to the game and no longer regret having spent my $5. This is some of the best fun I've had on an iPod Touch in a long time. Awesome stuff. Now I just need to make a bed. It's so neat! :D

I actually found four Seth pieces before I got around to building the portal. Then I found three for the next portal on Seth while digging my first tunnel there. I don't think they're terribly rare.

I had a fairly hard time finding my first Seth piece, I think on my 5th or 6th mineshaft across 4 worlds, and I was just trying to pass on a tip that helped me find the elusive pieces. I'm sorry if the information struck you as poor advice.

Great to hear that you stuck with it past that initial learning curve and are now enjoying the game.
I think it might be best for new players to enable peaceful mode from the options menu on their first go :p

I don't think it is poor? Where did I say that? At the very least it'll make you search at a depth where they can spawn.

I just wanted to note that they're not as rare as they could be, and there can be more than the three you need for a portal in a single world.

It comes down to method and luck. I didn't have the iron issues a lot seem to have. I also didn't find my first Seth piece until I was rocking full gold and had 5+ gold picks/swords on me at any given time. I'm in Seth now, though.

My first portal chest was in a tiny area surrounded by spots I had already explored. So, people hopping from one dungeon/biome to another can easily bypass them.

Ah, yeah, one thing I do is I always try to light up any cave I can find even if I never go in. Then I can see a little farther in map view.

I do that as well. The area was really small and appeared solid from three sides. I had essentially gone under and around it. I saw it from above while just trying to expose some more space on the map.

Now I'm being more systematic about how I handle exploration. I still explore all of the caves fully, but I go from place to place via columns or rows. So, run into a biome, explore, return to the path I was excavating and continue.

On another note, I just got my first Alba piece and a mummy chest piece which is awesome. Hoping to run into a couple more Alba pieces, but not in a rush since there's still plenty to do on Seth.

Agreed with the importance of torches. Good substitute for breadcrumbs

For some reason junk jack x keeps crashing on me consistently enough to make it annoying.

I can host games fine, and when I do people join in less than a minute.

However, if I want to join a game, I will literally be waiting on gamecenter looking for a game to join for five- ten minutes before I just give up, so I've never been able to join a game only host.

    Anyone else dealing with this?

Most lf the people only want to join cause they dont want anybody to grief in their own worlds. Takes way longer to join a match than host, but some time you will also be able to visit another ^^

    Sorry to hear that. :(

If you are using an older iOS device try enabling "Lower Graphics" and "Safe Texture Load" in Options->Graphics, that should help.

Try also rebooting your device and close all the memory hungry apps.

We're working on fixes for these rare issues, a patch has already been sent and we're working on a second one which will include some fine tuning and game balancing too.

If your copy of Junk Jack x keeps crashing a reinstall should fix every problem, try that as a last resort.

Can you play this game with random people over the internet at any time or do you have to have "friends" in your game center account?
