On Terra, there's the normal grassland/forest, snow and deserts on the surface to my knowledge. There are also library, mushroom, mineshaft and prison biomes underground.

Using the fact you can create multiple worlds is highly beneficial for expeditions. You can have your main world where you're in your base, go to world selection from the main menu and generate a new map, go there, mine and switch back to your main world when you need to drop things off or whatever.

For getting back to the surface, though, ladders are useful. Jumping works fine, too, though. But if you've wandered really far east or west you'll have a ways to go if you're focusing only on one world.

And for portals, once you have three pieces of a portal you can build it and go to a new planet/dimension. These should have their own unique enemies and biomes. I still need one more piece to finish my Seth portal, though, so my knowledge is limited.

Edit: Also note that I'm new to the series, too. So there's a plethora of stuff I don't know.

    1) Surface and underground.
    2) I usually do ladders with platforms every so often, but you can also dig down fast at a 45 degree angle (stairs, essentially) or dig straight down, digging out every other block to the side, alternating sides - then you can hop back up. (I need to make a picture of this)
    3) Yes, though not so easily. Inventory follows your character, so you can go in/out multiple worlds and take things with you. (i.e. open new world, dig for XYZ materials, return to original world with said materials.)
    4) I'm not there yet. ;)

    No problem with the questions!

Thx for the help guys! Much appreciated :)

Another one: Say your mined really far off...easier to just exit the game, goto another world, then go back to your own? Would you end up in your house (As long as a bed is there, correct?)? or back in the mined shaft?

Junk Jack X looks good. What are the advantages (changes) from the original Junk Jack ?

Absolutely. $10 to have BOTH Terraria and JJX in my pocket when Terraria is $10 by itself on other platforms and I loved the original JJ so much that I wound up buying every single hat, logo, etc. and gifting it multiple times over the past 2 years? NOBRAINER :D

Well, you could try reading the app description but some of the ones that stand out for me:
    - bigger worlds that now wrap all the way around instead of having that barrier beyond which you could see the other edge but not go through
    - different planets with different blocks, textures, mobs, etc, that you have to gradually unlock through discovery (I LOVE this)
    - wide screen support
    - more detailed textures (didn't realize how much more detailed until I loaded up my JJ world with my big wood mansion to visit it out of nostalgia)
    - equippable "body" gear (armor, amulets, etc.)
    - bigger inventory (6 more slots)
    - better organized craft book
    - more mobs, more crafting, more block types, really, just more everything

And, although I haven't had a chance to give it a go with the kids yet, it also has local and GC multiplayer, no small change

Strange that I can't play my own music in game. With the game's music switched off as soon as I start playing, my tunes get cut off. It's a shame as as the in game music is often absent for long periods.

I'm still having no luck finding iron! :(

Just had a blast playing online with Seil! There was some lag in attacking and placing but otherwise very functional, especially for giving someone a tour of your world. There should be some restrictions while creating a game though, something like visitor can't mine/pick up items etc, in order to show off your creation to a new person without the fear of being griefed.

Lost_Deputy, if you're still having trouble finding iron then I can donate some to you later for starting with iron tools, that helps a lot since it allows you access into biomes and deeper locales.

Thanks mate but I'm gonna keep at it. It can't be too far away. Just mined really really deep and found a few old mining caves. Out of nowhere I was attacked by a zombie who was 10 x as fast as the usual ones and had mining equipment. It killed me by throwing pick axes.

    Awesome!!

It's a lil bit tricky like in the original JJ.

    close JJX completely
    Load up the music app.
    Tap the play button
    Load up JJX

    There u go ! :)

A "read only" server mode would be great!

Is a bigger map screen like so I can't get a full view of my house or something? I press the bottom left corner button but it isn't zoomed out much, can I pan that map or zoom it out more?

Tap the map icon once and then tap and hold your finger on the screen, it should zoom out a second time.

Hey folks. I don't have much experience with games like this, but I picked it up on a whim (never played the first one). Even though I'm largely clueless, I'm having a blast.

Finally figured out how to build a small house and door to hide from the monsters, but is there any way to get rid of a chest? I built one and by accident placed it in my house before I could finish building a back wall, and now there is a hole in the wall. Whenever I try to put some wood there, I just end up looking inside the chest. Not sure what I can do here, any tips?

How do you make tools stronger than stone? I have some iron and copper ingots waiting to be used.

I think you use a hammer to get rid of it.

You need a hammer equipped to deconstruct furniture, chests and addons. After you take apart the chest you can fill in the wall and put the chest back
