Sure thing! We are currently in the stage of tweaking and polishing everything we can, and generally overcoming some technical hurdles. It's all looking pretty good though, and we are getting close to being able to finish this thing off! We are looking to release some dev diaries at some point soon as well, which will give a better and more detailed look into the game, as well as how we go about actually making the thing as we lead up towards a release!
But anyway, I still think that age of zombies is the best Halfbrick game in my opinion. Reminds me of box head.
When do you think Machinegun Jetpack releases? Is the date still August, like you wrote on Facebook? Early or late August?
Haha, interesting question! Originally when we were working on Monster Dash, we were in the phase of designing and prototyping all the weapons. I really wanted one really wacky zany weapon in there. We tried heaps of stuff including bubble guns and massive laser cannons, but they really were not all that fun to play. After kicking around ideas for a while, for some reason a scene from a really old Simpson's episode, where Bart is doing graffiti on the cliff and then points the 2 cans down and sprays to try and fly away, popped into my head. And then the next thing to pop in was Machine Gun Jetpack. We were all so excited by the idea and how ludicrous it was that the team started talking about how the weapon was so kick ass it could have its own game. So yeah, thats how things got started. A few months later I prototyped the game in Flash, had the basic premise up and running in about 2 days. The original plan was to just re-use some Monster Dash assets and knock it out as a kind of bonus mini game. But then with time, the game slowly grew and evolved, becoming a whole new beast all together. Next thing we knew we were making a shop, redrawing all the assets to look better and more. We just had so much fun working on it and adding new stuff that it kinda turned into a huge, full featured game of its own. Machine Gun Jetpack has been one of the most difficult, but also most ridiculously fun titles to work on ever. Hopefully you guys will see all the blood sweat and tears weve poured into this mutated baby of ours!
I have a feeling this won't be released until a certain time of the year when kids dress up in costumes and go from house to house asking for candy and yelling "trick or treat!"
This is basically the best story ever. The fact that you were inspired by one of the best Simpsons episodes is just the cherry on top.
Do my eyes decieve me?! One of my favorite developers ever using an idea from my favorite show EVER?!!!!!
Blood, sweat, tears and babies don't mix well... Though MACHINE GUN JET PACK AND RANDOM WEAPONS DOES!!! Will this game impress gun/firearm fanatics? If so, in what ways? Flashy graphics or mass destruction?
All of our games are CRAWLING with Simpsons references! We are all huge fans of (old school) Simpsons here! Fruit Ninja for example has 2 Simpsons referenced achievements: 'Purple is a Fruit' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwt2RP45sLE) and 'Go Banana' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmSfpTC9Rnk)
I'd rather wait and get the game as polished as possible at release instead of them rushing it into the appstore just to meet a deadline. Sucks to wait longer but it'll be worth it!
