Lil Stomper is a tricky one to master. At low speeds, its better to keep low where possible, but as it speeds up, you get a lot of benefit by staying airborne then dropping to avoid hard obstacles. You can get a distance of over 1,000m (as seen in The Stash -> My Profile -> Best Vehicle Distances) in any of the vehicles... but some are a bit trickier than others
This...game....is....so....addicting..... ...was going to play Minecraft, but that is going to have to wait. (Thanks for the quick replies BTW)

Gameplay What separates Jetpack Joyride from the countless other endless runners out there, as already mentioned above is the high amount of polish and suave packed into it. Barry Steakfries is blessed with his run-of-the-mill Machine-Gun Jetpack, powered by your one finger to fire up its thrusters. Your objective is to set a high score by avoiding a constant barrage of lasers, shock-barriers and missiles and moving ahead as much as possible. Coins act as the game's currency; these are scattered around the stage with well-thought out placement and can be exchanged at any time to upgrade Barry's avatar or the type of Jetpack he uses. Barry gets some much-needed support from power-up boxes randomly placed across the stage as well; touch one, and you're granted one of five different accessories/vehicles to help you with your run. I won't spoil it for you guys, you'll have to experience them for yourselves! The game starts you off at a Beginner-level rank, with various objectives (missions) in-place awarding you 1, 2 or 3 stars each upon completion. From hi-fiving scientists, collecting a set number of coins or travelling a certain distance in a vehicle, the challenges are quite easy to fulfill and add a sense of progress while playing. Features An interesting mechanic built into J.J. is the inclusion of a post-game Slot-Machine which offers various benefits. Tokens are scattered throughout each playthrough; collecting these gives you one spin each at the end of the run you just finished. Matching three of a kind of an icon could give you a second chance (letting you pick up where you wiped out the previous round), a 750-meter head start at the beginning of your next run, extra coins, extra tokens for more spins, or a 2x coin bonus for the next round, meaning each coin you collect is actual worth double! Better yet, there are also different-sized bombs on the slot wheel; match three up, and you get an added boost which adds some distance to your total score! I've personally averaged 3-4 coins per run, with my highest so far being seven.... definitely a game-changer! While changing your character's appearance is charming, it does little to affect or alter the actual game. Each Jetpack however offers' its own unique effect, scattering a trail of bubbles, steam, rainbows or other effects beneath you depending on which you choose to buy or upgrade. The items available for purchase may seem quite expensive initially (ranging from 7,000 - 16,000 coins just for a single Jetpack), but the addictive "just one more time" gameplay will undoubtedly have you racking up coins faster than you can care for. Aside from items, the power-ups you gain from the Slot Machine can also be purchased as single- or multiple-use packs; these end up helping you get higher scores and since they are quite expensive, are probably best left alone until you feel you have enough coins to spend after you've unlocked the game's other offerings to your heart's content. Audio/Visuals The game's audio and visual cues are completely up to mark to what you would expect from a development studio like Halfbrick. Menus and animations are polished, sounds are crisp and well-done and all sprites are extremely clean. I love that a random photo of Barry's gets saved at the end of each run; i've managed to laugh at the timing of quite a few of them... very nice touch! Conclusion At the end of the day, Jetpack Joyride manages to pin down and capture the essence of what iOS gaming is all about: portable gaming you can enjoy for spurts at a time and a gaming experience that keeps you coming back for more. I look forward to the additions and upgrades I am sure Halfbrick will be bringing us in the coming months; new levels/backdrops, Jetpacks and other tweaks could help this one stay on top of the AppStore charts for a long, long time to come! Kinda a more strategic twist on things, as you'd have to determine the best moments to use it. plasmakirby3 Well-Known Member Apr 26, 2011 550 0 0 Junior in High School Northern California #145 plasmakirby3, Sep 1, 2011 Last edited: Sep 1, 2011 Because of the stash and mission elements, this game is far more addicting than Monster Dash, which was already an excellent game. My only major complaint is that unlike monster dash, skill alone can't get you too high of a score. When the screen is scrolling very quickly, there is simply not enough time to react to some of the zappers. For example, you might be flying along in the center when a big vertical zapper appears in the middle. You drop down to avoid it, and are immediately greeted with a tall, vertical zapper that reaches to the ground. When your score is in the ~2000 range, such a combination is impossible to avoid. The only solution is to fly up to the ceiling at the first zapper, but as I said, that decision is purely luck-based. I have not died a single time from lasers and maybe once or twice from missiles, but zappers have killed me over 30 times. More obstacles/background themes would be cool too crunc Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2008 4,575 0 0 #146 crunc, Sep 1, 2011 I did end up buying it. I am happy to say that it doesn't go on forever as I'd feared. There's definitely plenty of challenge here and it is addicting, mainly because of the missions. It probably is overhyped, but it's still a fun game and definitely worth the more then reasonable asking price. I'm pretty awful at it so far, but nothing that playing more can't fix, I suppose! And unlike many games I'm awful at, I really do feel like I want to keep playing, because the game throws goodies and fun at me anyway, not frustration. That alone is pretty impressive. I'm seeing a whole lot to achieve in this game, and it looks like it's going to last me a while. A lot of the items look a little boring to me, especially because the machine gun jetpack is so fun that I'm not sure I want any of the others, but for the utilitarian crowd you can always buy powerups instead. Everyone wins! And let's be honest, I was expecting at this price point that the IAP coins would feel a lot more necessary... but it turns out there's absolutely no reason you'd want to buy them instead of just playing the game a lot. I've seen the phrase "overhyped" applied to this game a lot, and honestly? "Overhyped" is overused and sounds a lot more negative than it really ought to be here. I know TA has been pushing this game like it will revolutionize your iOS device, and sure, that's not REALLY the case. But at $1, this game is a total no-brainer. I'd recommend it to anyone. We have almost finished up on the next vehicle to be added, and it is something... crazy. Like... super crazy. 2. As someone else mentioned, we didn't want to have to kick up the age rating another notch. Keeps the game a little more inclusive, but everyone who is an adult knows what we mean anyway 3. Oh my yes. Very much so. 4. We have more plans for this. Right now we have the screen near the beginning, but we plan on taking the whole best run and your friends best runs much further in future updates.
