A fantastic little game. took it in my best games folder and i think it will be there a long time. its worth to play again and again and has the "...just one more try " factor.
it takes something like 10 second on iphone 4, initial startup. also my copy of ios does not lock this game in memory. but anyway it's minor issue. erm, have you read the reference about minigore? and also i dont complain about the coins, only about one powerup. without this powerup i would choose option to start the game at that point and skip coins just to make gameplay more fun, actually i would choose that option even with current iap system, just for more fun. it's maybe not a big issues because of the difficulty curve but still it gives a slightly advantage for someone who has this powerup on stock. and relax, it's just a game and i like it too, or do you have a share in hb?
Really like this game and agree with others that the IAP feels completely optional. And that's from someone who isn't very good at it at all. I do like eev's idea though. I like how in Robo Surf you always have the option to start close to where you failed. That really does make it more fun in my opinion. There could be multiple labs, different backgrounds/pitfalls etc.
This game is really awesome! I do have one problem though, I'm completely stuck on a mission in the game called "Reach 1,000M without using the machine gun jetpack. Unless I am completely missing something. this mission is broken.
I's a really nice game doing pretty much everything right. But I just can't get that much excited anymore about just another 3-star-1-finger game in the store, it doesn't need a lot to take the best ideas out of the countless games out there. Originality = 0, execution = 100. The mission system was already fantastic in Tiny Wings and here it's also the one feature making me play more than I want to. But slowly, I'm really getting bored of these 5-minute-things. But anyway. It's a great game. For one week or so, it might be one of my most played apps... but the flood of these (pretty forgettable) games won't stop. Hm, really starting to having mixed feelings about this type of game...
Wow, thanks but that still sorta sucks. all the missions have been straight forward so far except one.
Apparently it does, because so few are able to do it. The last time we saw buzz of this level about an endless runner was back with Tiny Wings, and that might not even have been as intense. The jetpack isn't a catch-all "machine gun jetpack", though, that's just the one you start with. The only reason I can see this catching people out is because the game used to be called Machine Gun Jetpack, so people may think that all the jetpacks are the "machine gun jetpack". This would lead them to the same place you found yourself, wondering how to get anywhere if you weren't allowed to fly.
Loving the game. Only thing I'd like to see is more background randomization. Like in Monster Dash, you weren't always starting in the same area and you switched to different environments. Yes, the obstacles change and the powerups are awesome...just a little more mix up in the change of scenery would be nice. Overall another great game from HB.
A very nice game from HalfBrick AGAIN! a bit difficult but pure fun and very much addicting! This is a steal for $0.99 universal app! Grab it now! 5stars!!
So a game needs to be original to be good? How about Sonic Rally Racing? Death Rally? League of Evil? MOS Speedrun? Frogatto? The list goes on... I'd say adding 5 different vehicles and slot-machine powerups in the game are pretty unique for an endless-runner; wouldn't you? You nailed the 100 on the execution, but 0 for originality is a bit harsh. EDIT: You forgot the 200 for Fun-factor as well.
It would be better for the atmosphere in the community and for tA altogether if this topic would discussed a bit more calm and serious. Actually, a huge part of the thread here is about the mystery of the game's IAPs and people are not very friendly. I don't know why. And not everybody here is 8yrs for sure. Other than that, the game clearly aims on the younger audience so everything should be clear about the built-in real money purchases. Funny writing. But it's not true. McDuck (Onkel Dagobert) would NEVER buy a casual game for ¢99—no matter how good it is as long as there are hundreds of totally free iOS triple A games in App Store (take that p.e. and read one of the early tA editor's reviews when they were pretty critical and much more balanced than today; be careful: maybe it's free for a limited time only). Played JPJR for 15 min or so and it didn't get boring until now. Pretty fun (although endless runners are not my fav genre) and well balanced difficulty so far. Smooth animations on iPad 2. No crashes (initial OpenFeint opened unusually slow). Will pick it up again for sure. Four stars out of five for gameplay (what is very much in my standards, there is only one game with five points until now: Asphalt 6). Can't tell about my personal long term replay motivation yet but if it will entertain me for one hour it should be well worth the money spent. There is a small text box with one option of IAPs (€.79) in the game's iTunes (Austrian) App Store page where you can't read the abbreviation (as always). No other description of IAPs in the large "more…" text. You have to read 200+ tA postings to get a bit of information what the IAPs are for exactly (sorry I didn't—maybe some1 could post a summary, thx in advance). So for me the IAPs are not hidden but they are NOT explained at all before buying. That's not a fair deal in my honest opinion and should be corrected by devs. The German translation is mediocre, I had a hard time to find out what "abklatschen" means (hit the little people being at the floor). There are huge portions of texts not translated into German so I don't know at all what to buy with my 3,619 game coins. ;-)
I'm not too fussed about the cosmetic side of the backgrounds, but I would like to see a little more interactivity in upcoming hallway sections. The current security hallway element has the red alarm lights that are used in a number of missions, and having that expanded upon for other backgrounds would add another dimension to the gameplay.
Yeah, that's probably it. If I hadn't spent a lot of coins trying to figure out ways not to use the machine gun jetpack, it wouldn't really matter. Just sucks because now I wasted all that time on nothing lol
This isn't Minigore; it's not even the same style of game as Minigore. Well, you do, because your next subject in the preceding post was how "income in the game is quite low", and how that affected your ability to buy an "expensive" bonus item you believe is required in order to be competitive. You have the ability to jumpstart the run, though: you just have to pay for the privilege. As per my previous post, if you're skipping all the coins and mission opportunities, you can't complain about how expensive something is. As a serious tip, make it your first priority to upgrade the vehicles with magnets; this will make collecting cash much easier. And? If somebody pays 10k for a one-time revive, thereby giving up the opportunity to buy an outfit, jetpack, upgrade, or other consumables, why shouldn't they benefit from that? There's not even any guarantee that the powerup will be useful, because the run may well end in flames mere seconds after reviving. You're the one getting worked up about how you need to grind or pay real cash in order to compete with other people on the leaderboards.
I too am getting a little tired of these 'play for 20 minutes and forget' style games, but that's kind of the nature of the beast here. Hardcore, in-depth games don't seem to sell as well, plus (at least in my case) if a game is really complicated and I don't play it for months I will forget what I'm doing in the game. The time spent to re-familiarize myself with the game mechanics and tasks can be annoying. Lose-lose!
the privilege? maybe. but what is wrong with having this privilege as an option. would you mind if devs made it as an option. that's why i wrote about the difficulty curve, the possibility to improve the score and that it's probably only slight advantage. my post actually is very polite. i am not going to try to compete on the leaderbords in this game anyway, i bought this game just to have some fun. and well actually i do not care about the iap and powerup system in this game.
