Ah crumbs, I didn't even think of the Golden Top Hat . Instead I was counting something in the update that isn't out yet... No idea if I can tell you when the next update will be out or not (Phil is in China so I can't ask.), but it's not too far away.
Yeah, this was a bug! We used to have a daily missions system, which got changed out for the current system you guys are familiar with. We had a string error so that the text was referring to an old string that was still included in our table. Oops! Good find though I actually did a talk all about the mission systems we tried at GDC, maybe I can convince those guys to set that talk to free so you can get a full look into how JJ got made! My talk on Fruit Ninja updates went free a few days ago, and the end of it references a few JJ things, but it is 95% Fruit Ninja related: http://gdcvault.com/play/1015822/Iterating-Design-and-Fighting-Fires
18 December 2011 Lost all my data - Level ~1700 down to Level 1 07 Feb 2012 "Hi there, Thanks for your email and apologies for the inconvenience. Unfortunately there is currently no way for us to restore your lost data but we have just released a new update which should prevent this issue from happening again. We know this is not what you were hoping for but our number one priority was to fix the cause of the bug swiftly and we wanted to release this update as soon as possible so more users don't experience issues. Providing a permanent resolution or method of compensation is a more complex problem which would've delayed the release of a fix and led to more troubles in the meantime. We felt it was best to provide the fix now so we can focus our attention on ways to compensate users who have already been affected. Please bear with us during this process as we are doing all we can to satisfy players and make up for the frustrations caused. We hope to have good news in the near future and any information about a permanent resolution will be made via our social media pages. Again, apologies for the inconvenience and thanks for your patience. Kind regards, James Schultz" Just wanted to share that with everyone who had been affected. Side note in regard to that video - just watched it all. I gotta say I love Muscat's energy and enthusiasm. Should also continue doing that dev diary thing on youtube i find it pretty cool.
We've actually added a thing in the next build where we can restore your progress manually, by awarding you additional badges. We have some other awesome stuff to nail down all these problems and give James all the tools he needs to keep everyone happy! Also, glad you liked the talk! Hopefully the other talk I did will go free, seeing as its basically an entire talk purely on the design and development of Jetpack.
Who loves reporting utterly trivial bugs? Me I guess... The rainbow jetpack, in the current version, emits the rainbow exhaust from the wrong point. It doesnt look like the screenshot (golden top hat) higher up in this thread. At least on my iPad 2/iOS 5.1. The little glow/spark at the source of the exhaust is still in the right spot, but the rainbow streamers dont connect to it anymorethey come out of Barrys feet more or less. So theyre shifted right (and maybe down). Please delay fixing serious bugs over this issue nobody will notice
You rule! We actually found this at the 11th hour in testing, but shipped with it anyway as we really wanted to get retina into peoples hands ASAP. This issue is already fixed and is in the next version to come soon. Trivial bugs are my favourite kind of bugs!
Is itust me or does it feel as if the Christmas tree jetpack has a little less "giddyup" than the machine-gun jetpack? I'm not sure it might just be me... P.s. Do not have GC can somebody tell me what the high score range is (Im sure it will put my feeble 6,245m to shame )
Just starting...what are the things that help you advance the most? I got the shoes, they help a bit.
12 players reached 30,000m, it looks like that this distance is the end of the game. To enter the top page (25. place) you need 29,948m. Try it and have fun!
• I use Free Ride when I have a vehicle mission. • I use Token Gift when I have token mission. • I use the ice thing and the bouncing ball thing when I have a distance goal. • I use Coin Magnet and Gemology to boost my income much of the rest of the time. • Sometimes I'll toss in Flying Pig (as an alternative to Gemology—not sure which is better) or Lucky Last. (A successful spin can get me more tokens for token missions, or more distance, or maybe a Head Start which sometimes helps avoid coins. Although usually when I get a Head Start I wish I didn’t have it!) But don’t use Coin Magnet, Free Ride or Flying Pig when you’re avoiding coins! The others I don’t use much. They seem like they could give you a small edge in certain cases, but some of them alter the game action (Air Barrys, Gravity Belt, Ezy Dodge) enough that they mess with my habits. Or they’re just not AS good as my favorite gadgets.
For the most part. Except: • There are Achievements based on wearing certain clothing items as you play. I wanted to earn all Achievements! (And finally did.) • Some missions require you to buy “something” from the Stash, and well... clothes and jetpacks are something! (Once you have all the magnets and gadgets, you could always stock up on more and more Utilities, but I end up with more than I can use.) • Some/most jetpacks harm scientists (even the Christmas tree knocks them out) which means you’ll need a “safe one” (like the rainbow or bubbles or my recommendation: the golden pig) in order to complete the “Without Harming Scientists” missions. And occasionally you’ll also see a mission that requires you to use anything BUT the default machine gun jetpack. • At least one jetpack affects the behavior of scientists, in a way that can sometimes help or hinder getting them to high-five you: the golden piggy jetpack. The scientists run after the spilled money, and sometimes I use that to make them rush towards me so I can high-five them before I have to leap over a zapper or missile. I just “hop” a little to make money fall out, and they start running towards me faster so I can get the high five quickly and get out. BUT this may be a two-edged sword: sometimes there’s a scientist on the far side of a zapper (especially if it’s tilted left) and I think I could land in time to high-five him, except the cash on the ground makes him run blindly into the zapper before I get there! Not too often, though. • I find that a high-visibility (BIG and brightly colored) outfit and jetpack are very useful when things speed up. I can keep my eye more on the right side of the screen and react quickly to oncoming threats, while my peripheral vision can still see Barry well and manage his altitude. (Might not matter on iPhone, but I play on iPad, sometimes hooked to a big projector.) The best gear for visibility, I find: • The bright yellow hard hat, plus • The kingly robes (red, and visually large because the ruby scepter sticks forward) plus • The golden pig jetpack (BIG!), or possibly the laser jetpack (pack itself is not very visible but the exhaust is—at least while you’re thrusting) or the rainbow pack (small but bright white, and fairly bright exhaust). The Christmas tree is big too, but kind of dark against the blue walls.
hey guys, this may seem a strange request, but is there anyway to turn off the counterfeit machine after buying it? I bought it to support the game a little but wonder if I can turn it off ...
Oddly enough, YES we can do that! You'll need to Sign In / Sign up to Openfeint and then send me a PM, but I can indeed help you out. Also, incase anyone missed it, Jetpack Joyride is now also available on Facebook. We don't sync your progress with the iPhone version (yet), as its just a beta, but still!
