The low sensitivity control is still too sensitive. Trying to go for the completed tutorial achievement is impossible for me as I'm stuck on trying to pull off 30 tricks while grinding.
Games like this aren't simply made for touch control. Some moves are impossible to do with touch pad. Even on a joystick, some moves are hard to pull off, it ruins the fun. Control is the only issue with this type of games on touch pad.
I've decided to do my own little pro/con review of the game here, for anyone still on the fence and with no TA, Pocket Gamer or over sight reviews to refer to (there are probably some, but still) +The same amazing game from 12 years ago +Absolutely beautiful graphics..more games should be cell-shaded +Same defining music from 12 years ago +Ability to spray yourself around Tokyo-To +Really long game to keep you occupied for hours +I can actually play it instead of waiting a month for an update, finding it still doesn't work, then having to upgrade the firmware just to play it (looking at you, Crazy Taxi) +Actually quite bug-free for me +Easy to pick up -Controls might be annoying at first, especially when it comes to tricks (how about a trick joystick akin to Marvel Vs Capcom 2?) -Graffiti maker might confuse at first, larger sizes mean thinner graffiti, can't tag giant band logos around Tokyo-To -Sometimes Graffiti spraying is unresponsive with swiping Summary: If you can get over the controls issues (I got over them quickly, even though I can really easily adapt to touch controls), then you should have a lot of fun in this game. If you have got this game on Vita (especially if you got it for free with Playstation+), then you might want to lay off this one in favour of that version, but otherwise, you should get this. My opinion is also judging from the second level in the main career. 8.5/10
That's what I'm talking about. They're exactly the same. If anything they're better with the superior analog sticks, but people are let down by their rose-tinted nostaliga specs and remember the DC version being better. Luckily I still own it and was able to compare side by side.
Sounds like you're talking about JSR Future? It might have been more impressive technically but I didn't like the darker atmosphere.
I played the tutorial and a bit of the first level on my iPad 1 and the first two levels on my iPhone 3GS. Performance is great so far, no complaints at all. The game is wonderful. It is really one of my favourite games ever and in my opinion it hasn't aged too much. I do think it is not for the easily frustrated though. The controls are not perfect. They weren't very good on the Dreamcast either, and of course virtual controls are even worse. I'll get used to it though. I think the game is adjusted a bit for the virtual controls, that Sega tweaked some things. I just unlocked Mew, and that only took me three tries. I remember that on the Dreamcast I found that last challenge so hard. So, even though it is tempting to blame all my failures on the crappy virtual controls now, I really do remember how hard it was back then too. It's not just the controls that are hard though, the game isn't very easy in general, and a bit rough around the edges (the map could be lots better too, for example. It gives an idea of where the next graffiti is, but that's it). So, if you're easily frustrated, this game is not for you, and if you're not, I think you'll learn how to deal with the controls. I prefer it on iPhone for now (like I do for most games with virtual controls). It is blowing my mind that I can play this game on my phone now. It is seriously amazing.
Exactly. The game is great, although it still has the same frustrations and issues as the DC original. I cannot imagine how freaking annoying it would be to play with virtual controls! I bought it on the Vita and the anologue sticks work really well.
844MB installed If no one replies before school is out today, I'll call my son and ask him how it's running on his iPod touch 4th gen. .... Unrelated to that, I'm sitting here letting the demo at the beginning of the game loop. Unlike Crazy Taxi, they did a FANTASTIC job keeping all the intro stuff in there. It changes scenes between songs, it changes which character is in the demo... overall... very nice. It's just mind blowing seeing this run on my iPhone. I'm going to be playing this game a lot today... I was a master at the original. I think I blew through everything the game had to offer in a couple days. I remember the controls being frustrating but finding the overall game to be pretty easy at the time because I was HUGE into every skateboard game of the day (even Konami's Evolution Skateboarding where you get to play as classic Konami folks like the dude from Castlevania).
Skate normally to the intersection, when you see the car passing by, get behind the car and use the fast skate button. When you get close enough, you'll grab onto the back of the car. -DotComCTO
Alternatively, just skate to the top, grab the paint, and skate back. As long as you paint the spot at the bottom you pass the mission and unlock Tab (at least that worked on the console versions).
Is Crazy Taxi available? I'm asking because while we don't have this issue in Lebanon, I know Crazy Taxi isn't available in the Japanese App Store. Maybe it's a regional issue? Whether or not it's because of localization, I dunno...but yeah.
For how much, $40? Lol I think the fact that a lot if vita people are here is a clear sign to how much of a fail that system is. Poor Sony!
Its actually 9.99, im decidimg which version to get mainly because I only have one 8 and a 4 gig cards for my vita so space concerns are more of an issue there than on my iDevices but im thinking the physical controls may be worth it.
I can't find Crazy Taxi as well. Yea perhaps it's a regional issue. Why do they have these kind of restrictions?
Sega has followed in the footsteps of Warner Bros here. What bullshit licensing could have stopped them this time? Even Crazy Taxi and a few other games are not available. And oh well, I thought of getting it on Android, but still not available on Malaysia/S'pore!! And here I was thinking having a global appstores like ITunes and Google Play will put an end to all this licensing crap. I was wrong I guess...
I've said it before with Bastion. If they think the game is too good to be in our store, then my money is too good to spend on their game.
