...so this wasnt submitted? =( At least they told you before they approved it; then you could lose money. Which is worse than more waiting. =D
We are still looking into the Openfeint problem, hopefully get it fixed soon I'm a bit disappointed that this happened but at least we caught the problem before we shipped it. All we want to do is give the best value game to the games playing public but we don't want to release the game with a major bug in it. Hopefully people who want the game will understand this
It looks like Openfeint on 2.2.1 is incompatible with the way our mainloop runs. Not getting technical here but the only reason why the game runs at 30fps and locked onto the refresh on a 1st gen iPod is because of this loop. If we use the standard method which Apple show in their examples the game runs pretty poorly. We are thinking of just releasing for 3.0 and above now (for some reason the mainloop works fine with those firmwares). We really did want to get the game to run on 2.2.1 - I've spent a week looking into this and I am getting nowhere finding how to work around the problem. So I'm afraid to say sorry for people with 2.2.1, I'm afraid you will have to upgrade... If all goes well we will be submitting next week sometime.
I agree 100% Might as well just submit it right away and THEN fiddle around with it for an update. It sucks that all the waiting has been for nothing. Best of luck
Actually, we did start going though the submision process already but ran into some problems with the details of our iphone developer program submision details. The plan is to submit as soon as that all fixed, which will hopefully be very soon. We are very anxious to get this game out there. On a positive note, this openfient bug has made us spend a lot more time checking all the different firmwares on different devices inorder to give the best possible experience possible. Anyway, I'm sure we are more anxious to submit then you guys are We wish it was out already too!
Well, after you guys have been checking in on openfeint, and found other problems...maybe you guys need beta testers? HAha, just kidding...good luck on trying to get things fixed. And people should really upgrade. I'm on 3.0. It's awesome with spotlight.
Hopefully if all goes well it will be Wednesday or Thursday of this week for submission The game will now be for 3.0 and above - our mainloop and Openfeint under 2.2.1 just does not want to work together. Every time you go into the Openfeint dash the touch events fail to register and you just get stuck there and cannot do anything. Anyway, at least releasing for 3.0 we can use any of the new features for future updates.
Well it looks like today (Wednesday in Australia) we will be doing the submission. I've been up all night doing final tests, last changes and such and it seems ready to go to me I've just got to meet up with Luke later for the submission upload. Anyway, I hope people will enjoy the game - I'm really happy with how it's turned out. On a technical level this game shows what can be done on the lowest hardware (1st gen iPod) - on this hardware the game is silky smooth and I think a lot of developers will wonder how we did this I think I need a holiday! I guess I need to slot back into getting Space Tripper finished off...
We submitted the game today There will be new videos soon, spread out over the submission process - showing various gameplay aspects. Anyway, it's down to Apple now...
Good to hear. I've been looking forward to this game for a while now. *Fingers crossed* for a quick and painless approval process.
Noooooooooo... not the 3.0 update. ='( It seems I have to update at last. Hope 3.0 play well on my iPod Touch 1G.
