Yeah, I actually wasn't going to say anything untill I read your post, I don't want to build peoples hopes up with some of our early crazy ideas for the future. All this talk is getting me pretty exited about the future, but we have a lot of crazy ideas for other games too, much more creative then this game. I didn't think of the Jet Car Stunts style mode idea untill we had already finished all the levels, and I was playtesting, and started to notice how much fun I was having just messing around attempting spins and stuff (Although, I've definatly thought lots about similar game concepts the past) Interestingly enough, I was also pretty keen to make a skateboarding game before we decided to create Jet Car Stunts.
Its amazing how everything seems to fall in place Now if only Apple can drop the biggest piece of the puzzle smack on the App Store right now
Tell me about it In the meantime here is another preview: http://www.appsmile.com/2009/11/05/upcoming-iphone-games-jet-car-stunts-rockets-toward-the-app-store/
When we sent the preview builds out we forgot to give info on price... but from the word go we have always said 1.99USD - the best value game you will ever buy And that is not an intro price. It will always be 1.99USD
Quote from AppSmile : "there are options for control layout (6 different styles)" Did you really implement different layouts? Like the second layout you showed before? What do them look like?
It's the same buttons but different layouts - some people may prefer a different positions for the buttons, plus everything can be flipped for left handed people...
We could've asked for more but WE REALLY want to give the best value game on the App Store. It'll be an interesting experiment to see how far it can get in the charts and how long it can stay high... Also, with each update more value will be added into the game, which should keep it up there a long time to come. Anyway, let's see what happens
Normally when I'm involved in the production of games, I never really play the ones I work on. This one is different - I really enjoy playing it. This to me says we have something special here... Like anything on the App Store it's a gamble/lottery for any devs but I feel this has a good chance of making it. The low price will just entice people into the instant purchase buy. Hopefully the people who buy the game will spread the good word
When you work for companies you are told you have to work on a game which you may not normally play. Also, I've been making games for over 20 years and after awhile you get tainted with the process. Playing other peoples games is another story Maybe, now that I'm working with Luke (TrueAxis) I'll get to make the games I want to play... Jet Car Stunts is certainly a game I want to play!
I know what you mean. I've worked in games for 22 years and worked on over 25 games. Some of those games I worked on for months or even years but on release, picked up a boxed copy and then played from start to finish. Others I never even played while I was working on them. I wouldn't want to say which were which though...
