I wont really be paying attention who has the game or not, but ideally any won promo codes would go to somebody who can't get $2 onto itunes for what ever reason.
The first round of the comp went well, but you can follow that on the promo thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=966439#post966439 (Link fixed, thanks zincous)
"Jet Car Stunts Lite" is #8 in Germany, The paid version also stayed in the top 10 for a long time in Germany too. We where really very unlucky to miss out on a 'new and noteworthy' for the paid version in the US because the list seemed to be frozen when we released, but, it looks like the free version has a good chance of peaking higher in the US.
Regarding Ghost Challenges So, let me gets this straight (on ghost challenges). I send a ghost challenge to a friend, they take 20 or so tries to beat it, if they so happen to beat it... I get a loss? What crap is that? Is it suppose to be like that?
Did they rechallenge you? I thought you only get counted as a loss if you accept a challenge but havn't beeten it. Actually, I'm a bit confused exactly how that works my self. It's how the openfeint system works. Maybe it doesn't actually make sence to report wins and losses with there system if you are allowed multiple retrys at the same time, but they asked us to do it for the Gold Update... but I'm still confused a bit confused about it, but nobody has complained until now. new promo code comp on now too: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=968281#post968281
Bought this today with the iTunes card I got... $2? More like $10! Loving it, just got to say it's awesome.
#1 in the world in lite platforming E!!!!!! Beat the previous record by .99 of a second Ya and definetley you shouldn't be able to restart on a challenge it defeats the purpose cause you can keep going until you win. Same goes for initiating a challenge you should have to select the challenge before you pick the level so no matter what you do it gets sent. I admit I'm guilty of of retrying on challenges, but it isn't balanced if the challenger can just send their best time after a good run and you only have on retry
Players get as many retries as they want. When checking the results, it tells you how many retires they took (say 12) then they show there time they beat you by. On top of that it also says "You Won," but gives you a lose? Seriously, what?
We will have a look into this and figure out exactly how it works, how it should ideally work, and see what we can do... maybe its best to remove the wins losses thing... But we won't be doing an update for a while unless there is a critical problem. We want to try and focus on finishing of the paid DLC The other way to do challneges would have been to choose to send a challenge before you start the race... then allow only one attempt to beet it. But that has its own problems. Anyway, I think its most fun to send a challenge when you get a really nice time and you want to challenge your friend to been it, no matter how many tries. And the win loss thing is secondary. Just need a way to make it make more sence.
i think the way it works now is fine. you couldnt possibly expect to beat a very good scroe in ONE shot. do you think when people try to beat whoever first in the leaderboard they do it in one shot? no it takes tones of times my only complaint is its hard to see the results when looking through OF, it should be more clear. and also i hate it how if you only watch the replay but dont click start race it counts it as you lost and you attempted to race. that bit REALLY sucks
Another way to look at it would be in terms of the increased likelihood of a given challenge recipient attempting the challenge in the first place, as a result of being able to try more than once and still score a +1 if the challenge is ever beaten; more tempting to prospective opponents, in a sense. What balances the latter is the fact that many people will give up after X attempts instead of finally beating you, sparing you the loss taken in other cases (assuming the challenge is indeed tough to begin with). Send a tough enough challenge out there, and some point will come rolling in.
Well you can practice before accepting the challenge. You can clearly see what track they challenged you on and their time. So, practice before accepting their challenge, then accept it for a one time chance. That would make sense to me at least. But this is all coming from a competitive nature. I just don't believe in multiple tries. I mean what if your about to take the last second shot in a basketball game to win, you miss, but you get multiple tries to beat your opponent. That really isn't fair, IMO.
but when i send challenges i usually only send them after ive played the tracks multiple times myself to get the best possible time. so i can have as many tries before i send so they can have as many times to try and beat it
