Would you be surprised if I told you that we did not use an artist for Jet Car Stunts or the True Axis logo. It was all programmers artwork I guess we are still in the 90s
No offence but, no, I'm not surprised at all. I think the 90's look is part of the charm of the game, but you should probably hire a graphic designer to develop a better visual identity for the company. It might give you a bit more credibility in the marketplace and help you with investors, partners, etc.
In away I agree with you completely... One of the reasons why the art style of the game came about was for budget reasons - it so happened that it worked for this game. We of course realize this and any games that we do in the future that require a graphics designer will be used. But for Jet Car Stunts we were going for a retro look, with some very nice lighting effects to give it a modern feel. Most people think that the game has a stylized look and has a very refreshing feel about it but that came about from the constraints of budget. Our next game is full of eye popping candy, though
This we have considered but until Openfeint can offer this, it's on the list of things to do when it's possible to do.
Where do I find the setting to restrict me from buying DLC? But as I previously posted, I would actually be open for more time trial tracks via DLC. I am not suprised. The graphics are very rudimentary in their styling, but also very clever (the way your radiosity(?) lights are all that paints the levels and that the light is always the same on the car). ... I'm worried that there is talk about a sequel already, though. As mentioned, levels could easily be done via DLC, but couldn't ghost cars be done the same way? A stunt arena with stunt car physics does sound like it needs its separate game, though. I wonder what Geoff Crammond is doing these days? I wonder if we can summon him if we say his name three times? Geoff Crammond! Geoff Crammond! Geoff Crammond!
Great game, I play if off and on and fun with it. I'm only a handful of levels in and it really kicks my ass. Good job on all fronts though.
No criticism intended towards JCS -- I think the look works pretty much perfectly in the game. My comment was really directed towards the TrueAxis logo and overall graphic identity -- in my view it belies the sophistication of your operation. Then again, I'm a graphic designer, so my opinion could very well be professionally biased .
I like the graphic style, something different and refreshing. I would also like to see "ghosts" even if they are only of your best track time so you can push yourself while trying to set a new personal record. Overall great work, and can't wait to see more from you guys.
Fully agree with you. This game is easily worth 7-10 bucks...Will be more than happy to pay 99 cents or more for DLC.Just make sure you include the casual mode Also any chance of incl. a night level or a foggy, rainy level??
I really like the icon, too...don't know what some people don't like about it.. @Trueaxis(-luke) how much tracks of each difficult level will be in a DLC to what price?
@Trueaxis Hook champ uses open feint ghost runs, i donk know how but they are the first and only ones to have done this, maybe there is a way of doing it through OF. Btw if you are a graphic designer why not show us a better version of the icon/logo, then we can decide which one is better.
This game is amazing, but if there was one thing that i'd change in an update, it would be how the game counts retries. If, on the platformer mode, you were to screw up and retry before making it to the first checkpoint, the game shouldn't count it as a retry, since you can just then go to the menu and restart the whole thing (but that's a hassle) and end up just as you were, sans the retry point.
ya same- i wouldn't mind paying the same price JCS2 will be offered at but in dlc mode if it saves me page space.
