See told ya. Real bargain for $2, wouldnt you say? @Trueaxis When are you looking on releasing space tripper?
Ditto - super smooth on my 2nd Gen iPod Touch. Haven't gotten very far in it yet, but I am glad I bought this game. I wish they had some 'racing' levels, while the platforming is neat, I'd love to tear through some stuff as well (I'm thinking levels with laps like Stunt Race FX, or Race Drivin' perhaps with much more curved banks since you've got that jet engine... )
great that they added a casual mode.....enables people like me to enjoy this game. This and cobra command are prolly the toughest games in the app store
Strange, I found Jet Car Stunts to be challenging but not hard (just in the last 3-4 levels). Also Cobra Command is not THAT hard. I struggle a lot more with many other games out there.
I usually take the words hard and challenging to mean about the same thing. Jet Car Stunts would be considered a "hard" game by most portable gaming standards, if the minimum goal of bronze in every easy track in both platforming and time trial is considered what most players investing upwards of a few hours would expect. If, on the other hand, a player can be satisfied to merely unlock most difficulty tiers after a reasonable effort, then JCS becomes hard only to enthusiasts and perfectionists who set their sights on the golds and beyond. I still highly recommend this game, and consider it to be the best 3D game of 2009. It would sell for upwards of $20 on the PSP, if that device could support it.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I would pay for an in-app upgrade that would enable me to save replays (to Youtube or send to my Mac) and also a ghost mode. And just because the game is so bloody good, I think I even would pay for additional time trial levels (the platforming part doesn't interest me that much, but I do consider the game to be the best arcade racer for the iPhone so far). This might be a stretch, but the devs should track down Geoff Crammond and license the tracks from Stunt Car Racer and include them as an in-game purchase.
frankly i didnt really like this as much as the praise would suggest i should. its oki, its priced well, polished and near bug free, however, i find the lack of AI racers to compete with a real downer, in fact why is it called racer in the title when your not really racing. i dont get a kick from beating times and cant fathom out just why the ability to race properly isnt being implemented dont get me wrong, i want to like this, but it just lacks any sort of objective other than to beat the clock (and to some extent others around the world). since is compareable in some small way to stunt car racer, perhaps 1 cpu driver in each race with a league mode by which you get promoted would grab my attention a little more, gel it all together so to speak.
Weren't you alone too in Stunt Car Racer? This is definitely not a "racing" game in the classic sense and that's good. If you are searching for competition agains other cars, there are plenty of (fantastic) games available in the App Store. But there is NO game like Jet Car Stunts for the idevices. So, I hope, they keep their unique concept.
Me the other way around! I would gladly pay DLC for some extra platforming tracks and I'm absolutely NOT interested in these boring time trial races...this is not, what the game is made for... without flying, it's simply boring...
Thanks, but 'very smooth' and 'super smooth' are a bit abstract to me. Can you please give me a comparison with other games? So it's like Fastlane then? (between Real Racing and Snail Mail).
there was a car to race against in SCR, often skillful use of your nitro was the difference between winning and losing. visually JCR blows stunt car away but the 20 year old game wins supreme in gameplay stakes fer me. i did however do JCS a miss-service by saying there was racer in the title, which there blatantly isnt i dont see the harm in keeping the platforming system along side a league/race aspect to. ofc AI development isnt easy but would gain new fans for sure!
We are aiming for an end of Jan submission but it will probably end up been the 2nd week in Feb, due to some things that need doing to JCS, and Miles (Pompom) needs to do a couple of things and needs to fit time in from his busy schedule.
@TrueAxis: What is Space Tripper? Is it this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FVgBTgMnn0? Also, with JCS2, will it be a brand new game? or will we be able to upgrade our JCS to JCS2 via DLC? Any prediction of release date?
