The casual mode coming in the next version has the same tracks, but with modifide collision to make it easier, unlimited retrys, and jet fuel that refills when not being used, but leaderboards and achievements are turned off. Time trial levels are also given invisible walls on the edge of the tracks to make it harder to fall off. The tutiorial contains new levels, but they are extremly basic and short.
Haha Ive been going to all those "what games should I get?" threads that have been popping up and posting short jet car stunts reviews to convince people to get it
1.2 out: - A tutorial - Game mode for casuals - Listen to your own music - A camera to alter views in the replays has been added - Minor fixes
Questions: 1. Is the new casual mode easy enough? I'm interested in this game but I'm usually easily frustrated by difficult games (eg. Aera). 2. Can we save and upload replays? 3. Can we unlock different cars / customise out car? (colour, etc)
Casual mode, eh? I'll admit, this game is pretty difficult, but really, practice and memorization is all it takes to beat MOST of the tracks. Glad there's an update though, it might convince more people to get the game. Edit: Alright, I tried out the casual mode. It is a bit of a pain having to go through all of the levels again, but it is as promised. Jet Fuel recharges almost instantaneously, and your jet car is more so a tank than a car, being able to slam into things with minimum knockback. As for the poster above, the new casual mode makes the game a lot less frustrating than before, and with unlimited retrys, There really is no reason not to get the game. No, you cannot unlock other cars and you cannot save replays, but those really are minor qualms.
Actually a lite version might convince people more, so I can know how easy / difficult the game is, how the controls are and just overall whether I like the game or not. But I might take the plunge if someone could please answer my 3 questions.
I did in an edit of my previous post. Yes the game is a lot less frustrating, there aren't any other cars, and you cannot save replays.
That was quick of Apple to update that (we submitted on the 23rd dec)... Too quick because I wanted to reject the binary - there's one thing I noticed after iTunes Connect went down that I wanted to fix. It's just a small niggle that will have to be fixed in the next update, which is when you select the leaderboards from the pause menu it takes you into the Openfeint main screen and not the track leaderboard Anyway, I hope people enjoy the new casual mode It certainly makes the game more easy!
I love the the camera option in the replays! Because this game is just a beauty I can watch over and over again! Great update, I don't need the casual mode, but it's great for the more casual gamers, perfect implementation. Thank you, my personal game of the year 2009!
Sigh... why am I so unlucky? I tried downloaind JCS on my iPod but it says it's not compatible. Hopefully when I have time to download it from my computer in the next few days or so that it will work. I'm gonna be checking this on my iPod again tomorrow.
How is it on iPhone 3G? Is this game silky-smooth like Snail Mail on iPhone 3G? or is it just alright-smooth? For me, Snail Mail is the smoothest game I've ever played on my iPhone 3G. Fastlane comes second, then Real Racing then NFSU. So which one is it? (please be honest and don't be biased just because you like the game and want to persuade me to buy it)
On my iPod Touch 2G it is very smooth, smoother than Real Racing and very close to Snail Mail and it has a very good sense of speed. I've played this game more than Real Racing and Snail Mail together, because it's just so much fun. Just buy it, you won't regret it.
The game is very smooth on the 3G (locked onto the screen refresh at 30fps) if you turn on Airplane Mode... If Airplane Mode is turned off the game still runs smooth but every so often the phone background tasks will interfere with the graphical update - this effects all games in one form or another on the 3G. It's even super smooth on the 2G and 1st Gen iPods.
I have an iphone 3G and this is supersmooth on my device, when you are travelling at the speed you can in JCS, it needs to be smooth. Also, the resposiveness of the accelerometer are the best yet.
