thanks for the callibration support, maybe theres not much people asking for it, but for those with accelerometer problems its a godsend
Freudian slip Probably tells you what a deaply disturbed person I really am. Pretty damn funny though.
Aw, deep down inside you don't believe in your own app Lol jk. I didn't even notice till Hmar posted it.
This was also my problem. Yeah, I played the other levels of easy, but the long jump on easy a was really not that easy and much harder than the other easy levels. You should make this easy D.
Or maybe I am supremly arrogant and beleive everything else in in the list is not worthy There are a few levels I would like to swap around now, but its a bit impractical now given the naming convention and all the leaderboards and stuff. Have to keep things consistant. Doing the level order was hard, because, once anybody has played through the entire game, then the easy levels are all super easy, you need to keep getting somebody fresh to test the dificulty curve... and what some people find easy others find a bit tricky. Anyway, I hope most users are smart enough to skip a level and come back to it later if they get frustrated on one.
i can see the problem with this game for casual gamers, in many race or drive games u can still beat the track even if u make some stupid moves etc. But in this game there are points on the track where u have to drive exactly in one direction in order to reach some platforms over the gaps. so that means u are not punished with standings after finishing race, but with possibility to finish the track and unlock others. It's much more fun to try to improve record and to have many possibilities for this, as just trying to finish some maps. Anyway it's great game and really worth it's money (actually it could be more expensive) but maps design could be much better.
Sales have really been good in Europe and Australia. Also recently we had a banner on the Japanese App store and since then sales have taken off... It's just the US side of things (which is the biggest market). We were doing pretty well - chart position was 55 and nearly into the top 50... then bang the Thanksgiving sales just destroyed all the work to get it into the charts. The chart curve has now recovered and we are climbing back up but more slowly than the first time. Hopefully the next update will take it up again and beyond the 55 position that we reached before. Maybe in hindsight we should of dropped the price over Thanksgiving but how low do you go? The value of this game is so cheap to begin with that we are offering more gameplay than any other 1.99USD game. I think someone posted above that this will be a slowburner - when we start adding more content and improving the game then that 1.99USD will seem like a super bargain.
The game already is a super bargain. This should be one of the flagship titles, put in advertising for Apple, etc. I honestly feel it's that good.
Yea I kinda am leaning towards the slowburner route..you guys seem to slowly but surely be building a loyal user-base. But I mean, a $1 sale might not have hurt you guys [chart-wise] and it may have boosted sales. But that's all here-say, you can never know how something like that will pan out. I think after the update you guys will be just fine *knocks on wood*
While jet car stunts certainly ranks as my favourite iphone game, it certainly has much room for improvement. I think the developers should take a good hard look at Trials HD... now i realise they're very different games - but alot of what kept me going in trials isn't in JCS. My biggest gripe though are the checkpoints, they are too often placed right after a large jump (or set of jumps) rather then before the next large set, meaning failure is usually followed by the tedious little bit of driving that i eventually despise by my 5th attempt. Also the first checkpoint shouldn't count as a retry - it makes no sense, after failing the first jump 5 times do you really think i'm gonna just try and power through the entirety of the remaing track without restarting first? The last gripe being the controls, which are perfectly good, except for the fact that i think the buttons should be switched, so the air brake/handbrake and regular brake/reverse are on the left and the boost and acceleration on the right, too often have a boosted/accelerated by accident. On the whole it s a beautifully made game though. But i can only stand so much of it on the harder/impossible levels because of the - what i consider - issues above. All that said, were you to bring out more paid for platforing levels, i'd cough up the money on day 1.
Good points, meeger. I too agree that restarting when you are still on the 'first' checkpoint should not count as a restart. If I'm stuck on the first section, I use the menu to properly restart and reset the counter to 0 But I've become so used to doing it that sometimes I've accidentally restarted the entire level when I was on a later checkpoint and just wanted to go back to the previous checkpoint! I'm happy with the layout of the controls, but I would like them to be bigger, or rather, to have bigger activation zones. Sometimes I miss the jet button with my left thumb and ruin my run. I'd like it better if you could activate the buttons by pressing anywhere in their vicinity, ie, invisible zones stretching across the whole screen. I'm very much enjoying the game, though. It reminds me of a cross between Carmageddon and Stunt Car Racer I'm currently stuck on Impossible D, in the Platforming mode. I didn't attempt the Time Trials yet.
Being featured in the first panel of "What we're playing" shouldn't hurt this app's success. Very few of the titles featured in other categories ever make it there. That means someone up there is taking notice, and JCS should appear in iDevice commercials before long. Maybe they just need to finish unlocking the hard tracks in order to wake and realize what a killer-app this is. This will be one of the first games that people will attempt to get working correctly on some of first-gen idevices found in landfills after an apocalypse. If JCS doesn't succeed, people will text "How did we let this happen?"
It would be a good idea to drop price to .99 during other major sales, once many bigger brand name games are involved. Then at least you can maintain the chart position instead of climbing it again...
On the front page of TA they listed Nov best games and jet car stunts is in it as one of the two 5 star games . Beat COD zombies which only got 4.5 stars.
I'm very happy with that Thanks TA! Also, when we launched we had no marketing in Japan then Apple wanted to put some banners on the their App store. So from been no where in the Japanese charts we shot up to Number 7 in a day. Thanks Apple It just goes to show that if you get on the front page of an App Store sales can go through the roof - I guess we need to work more at the US market and keep adding new content until we get noticed...
Finally in the recommodation section of the first app store page in the german app store, in case people don't click in the hidden menu at games
