Sales have been disappointing... It's strange how a game can get really good reviews, offer more than any game in that price range, have the smoothest graphics update than any other game on the App Store (All those people with 1st gen iPods have never seen a 3D game run so well)... And yet most people are by passing it for some reasons. Hopefully, the stuff we are adding now - tutorial and a casual mode will make it more attractive
It really amazes me that it's not bigger than it is. This is one of the best games I've ever played on any console. Hopefully, people will see the light and realize what a gem this really is. Great work guys...Thanks for a truly amazing game!
i tried to calibrate my device then I started a game, i steered left, noticed it's not that smooth, then I steered right, but it didn't go to that direction as if im not tilting my ipod although the environment tilts with me. :/ happens everytime. Also I noticed when i turn, the camera should follow, yes it's supposed to follow and align the camera right, but it's not smooth anymore, i don't know the right word but the camera jerks/snap into position. :/ EDIT: oh man, it really has problems with the smoothness of the camera when turning.
Hi, It really is a shame that sales are disappointing. I know that when you were first promoting this, I was very skeptical of the videos and how it would play. WOW, was I wrong. For those on the fence on buying this, buy it.supporting good developers is a must if we want to continue getting great games. The game plays even better than the videos show, I am just not very good at playing it. That is my fault, certainly not the fault of the game or the developer. I was skeptical of the physsics but they are spot on. Just hoping to get better at playing this and looking forward to what the developer puts out next. David
Could you try to recalibrate again? Following the steps carefuly, we are a little bit worried its easy to make a mistake while calibrating.
Hi Luke, I tried but the camera still isn't smooth. It's not really that of a deal breaker, it just feels awkward considering how smooth it is before the update. But yeah, it still bothers.
I'd like to try to get to the bottom of this, obviously we tested the code, and I can't think of any reason why the camera would not be smooth. Is the camera still not smooth if you go to the calibration menu and click "default"? You could also look at the tilt sensitivity option, but that shouldn't affect the camera too much. Also, if your playing the game with the volume really high, it might shake the accelerometer a bit... but I would still expect the camera to be smooth. Anyway, for the first step in calibration, you want to put the device on a flat surface, like a desk, with the screen pointing up. Then for the second step, you want to hold the device vertically. We tested calibrating the phone to different crazy angles... but never noticed any camera problems.
If somebody could update the title of the thread for the 1.1 update now available, that might be helpful. 1.1 adds the following: - Fix for iPhone 2G crash when playing with no headphones and sound on. - Accelerometer calibration.
Yeah, exactly what i mean. And it would be definetely good if there will be also lap trials, because 5 times is a bit boring.
There is still the unsolved mystery of how apps get noticed. I know that if this one showed up on the top 50 when people go to look then it would shoot up to the top 10. Because a lot of people don't check the top 100 only the 50
Tutorial and casual mode will definitely help, but won't do the trick alone. The game is absolutely superb, i'm probably not alone when saying it's up there at the top. A really well thought out, and most importantly fun game! You do, however, need better marketing =) I haven't done any research on what is most affective, but i see two options: Option 1: You definitely need to get it into the 1) New or What's Hot section where it will hopefully gather enough momentum 2) to get it into the Top 25/50 which should 3) lead to a great deal of sales. Option 2: Make a lite version which is free that includes a couple of the easiest tracks and/or the tutorial. And you could even make the paid version $1-2 more expensive cause i feel this game is worth more. The major downside of the App Store is trying to find great apps. I only check the Top 100, Top Grossing, New, What's Hot and obviously TouchArcade =) I really hope this game becomes more popular cause it seriously deserves it. Good luck and thanks!
I see this game more as a long-term winner, building a fan-base that grows over time the way that of any successful franchise does. The general fan base will always be in a certain healthy proportion to that core who have mastered it on some level; the latter are the ones who indirectly sell it to the more cynical consumers, because they're the ones who tend to remain on the fence until sufficiently convinced that the overall experience will not be unduly frustrating or futile. The anticipation of extreme difficulty gives rise to certain degree of futility, which does in fact come into play in determining whether a certain percentage of gamers will bypass an app, because there's always the consideration that many of the levels in a game such as JCS need to be "unlocked." Which brings to mind the consideration that JCS might have caught on more quickly if apps store browser had gotten a sense that it would be easier to unlock the higher levels. If such were the case, they might anticipate the different challenge of attempting an impossible track in fewer than 100 retries instead of an intermediate or easy track in under 10; similar to how certain players of rhythms game don't have time to waste playing easy or medium levels in order to unlock the ones more suited to their ability. People should buy JCS even if they don't have the time to invest in it right now, because apps such as this will not be as likely to appear in the future, except as severely watered-down versions, unless their development is rewarded.
The game does start with 9 unlocked levels... which is probably more game play then a lot of games have for $2, but I'm sure some some peole still worry abou the difficulty curv. On the american itunes, a review got pushed up into the top 3 so it was visible on the Jet Car Stunts front page. The user complained they where stuck on easy A for 3 days, however, which sounds like they didn't actually bother trying easy B, C, D and E, which some people have done, then come back to A and finished it easily. We have been doing a bit better in some other contries where we got a 'new and not worthy'. We hit #2 game straight away in italy, and where in the german top 10 games for quite a while and still being descovered in some places.
