It's interesting that the exploits are being found.

I think things like this actually generate a healthy culture around the game and add to its success... but at the same time it obviously winds up the people who care about scores.

Perhaps there could be a way to determine if the car exits the track and comes back on at a totally different point that it its supposed to.
In these instances it would not submit score, but still allow play due to it being awesome :)

I that that finding short cuts should be a fair a part of getting world records. If you care about scores, then find a good short cut.

There are shortcuts and then there shortcuts. Those accounted for in game development and tweaking should be interesting to find. I'll look for those. Any shortcuts that allow one to effectively skip the carefully planned technical challenges will be skipped, as they just cheapen those levels to some extent in my opinion. Anyone could watch the shortcut videos people are posting and ape those for a 20-30 second time without mastering other aspects of the game. It's not as if those shortcuts would have been possible if safeguards against them had been implemented in the first release.

There is plenty in JCS already to satisfy my taste, however, so no complaints here. I hope there will be a good variety of shortcut ridden and shortcut-free dlc tracks available in the future. :)

    edit:

My opinion on the existence of gross shortcuts notwithstanding, the world record videos #4Leon posted on youtube are very impressive and obviously required an enviable degree of perception to work those things out, as well as a substantial technique to pull off the track-to-track leaps and falls.

Yeah I showed the shortcuts to the hardest parts. The last jump was easy. No shortcuts to it.

I'd love to see somebody do 'Impossible E' cleanly with no retrys.

For the dlc last impossible track, we will have to test it better for exploits;) I thought it was impossible to skip the first two sections, then the last section is too easy if you carry over your speed from the last section. If you try to do the last section from a retry, it is by far the hardest section, even if you do the others with out cheating.

Anyway, I think its cool that people figured out alterative ways to do it that where not ment to be possible.

Wow I love this game so much now, I ranted about this game a few pages back and then sometime told me about air braking.... On hard C or D now I think, so addicting :D Don't have wi-fi at my house so can't get any dlc atm. :(

I finally unlocked the impossible levels last night and have been going at a few of those like crazy. I'm afraid to try E yet, but the time will come :) At this point I don't really care that some levels have such shortcuts, because everything else in JCS is so well balanced that one can't help but improve with perseverance. Anyway, it seems that at least impossible A is a clean course.

There is dlc already? I didn't notice. By the way, "backflip" was awarded after accidentally clipping the first red cube hanging over the high platform near the beginning of impossible A. 720, 1180, etc haven't unlocked yet.

    edit:

After playing that track a bunch of times and making it to the last jump (i.e. by jumping over the wall with the ridiculously small hole in it), I've concluded that doing it cleanly in zero retries would be impossible with the current control scheme. For starters, the vertical level indicator fails to respond quickly enough to make the type of minute adjustments necessary to complete all parts of the track without retries. I wouldn't openly question any 0 retry instant replay of that track, but I wouldn't believe it either; only a video of a person doing it on something that looked like an idevice would be believable. Not that it matters, though. It almost looks as if that track was designed by a nervous compensator (cough).

There's no DLC yet... 1.1 version should be out soon which corrects a few bug issues.

For 1.2 we will be adding a tutorial.

After all that is out of the way we can start adding to the game :)

Seriously... i don't know how feasable / impossible / worth the investment in time it is but adding youtube uploads of playbacks would be amazing. Especially if it could post a link to that youtube clip on your twitter / facebook feed ... good promo for the game.

There should also be a few achievements FOR finding exploits :)

Devs, I like to listen the music when playing. So please give me this opportunity in your game. When i launch JCS music is paused, not good, not good at all.

Haha. I'll just leave it at that. I just watched someone's Impossible E gold replay video on youtube and found it believable, but that should be considered a "clean" gold, even though he jumped right over that wall, because the hole in the middle of the wall looks too small for the car to go through without being completely sideways. I attempted to get through it about 30 times in a row before skipping the wall, only to find the last jump to be killer. The video does make that jump look feasible, though. What's surprising is how the car veers up towards the top of the last ring, making the final arc longer than expected. Impossible E could be dubbed "Revenge of the E-hole."
