I wonder what will happen since OpenFeint is no good anymore. I hope it won't make the game non-working. It'd would be great if somehow Game Center could be implemented into this game.
Gamecenter doesnt support the replay feature I don't think. Gamecenter is nice but it doesn't have all the features that we all want.
I can't think of a reason that would stop the game from working since you can play with no net connection, either way, we didn't really have enough time with this warning to do anything. We thought the servers would go offline a lot later. Gamecenter basically sucks. 25 leaderboards maximum, when we have over 70 or something, and no support for replays. Also, migrating to gree is no good because it doesn't have replays yet either. Still deciding what to do about this. If we go in and remove OpenFeint, we will probably do this at the same time. It is just a pity that there is no way to upgrade to widescreen with out dropping support for the older devices.
Last time I looked into it, when apple added wide screen support in xcode 4.5, they disabled support for ARMv6 in xcode, making it not possible to target the original iPhone, or the 3G, or the original iPod Touch, and iPod Touch 2nd Gen. Reading about it some more just now, it sounds like there may possibly be some work around possibilities. However, they sound messy and there is no guarantee that apple wont ban them. For awhile, it was apparently possible to just to a small hack with a iOS5.0 targeted app to support wide screen, but then apple started banning apps that did that. Apple suggests releasing to sperate apps, but I am not sure we want to charge people again for JCS wide screen.
Any chance that you might have a chance to update the control scheme with the controls in the middle (or slightly above) for the iPad sometime in the future?
We are considering an update at the Moment since OpenFeint just shut down it's servers. We must put that in. Just trying to work out if we can support the iPhone 5 and the old hardware at the same time. As said above, OpenFeint have closed down there servers. There where some other services we could have swapped the data over too, but none seemed to be able to handle replays. We may just well end up putting up an update with no connectivity. We are looking into doing our own server tech now. This is one of the reasons for the delay of JCS2.
impossible platofrming e with no openfeint I was wondering whether 25 seconds for impossible platforming e was any good
I don't even know. Probably not after all the game center problems we had with True Skate. We are working on our own servers now for JCS2, which might be good for JCS1 as well, however, we really want to try to get JCS2 moving rather then continue updating JCS1.
Couldn't you at least use Game Center for achievements only, and use your own servers for leaderboards?
I wish we could do all the things people wanted, but we are pretty stretched. We'd prefer to move more towards getting JCS2 done, plus we have a lot of True Skate requests.
I think that it has been put on the back burner due to other titles being worked on. I am actually more interest to know if they are ever going to update the original Jet Car Stunts to support the newer widescreen on iPhone 5 and to actually remove Open Fient as the high score server, as that is no longer available. Thinking the need to do some updating for us loyal customers/fans.
If you're jailbroken then fullforce works perfectly on iPhone 5, not stretched and the buttons are in the right places, looks better than a whole lot of games coming out nowadays
