After seeing how excited people have been about the iPad update, I've done a little extra work making a high res hud, and doing a high quality blur up-res on the sky box to hide some horrible bi-linear filtering artifacts. There are still some blurry elemnts in the menus, but over all, I think things are looking good considering the game was designed with a small low res iPhone 3G in mind. Video running on an iPad 2. No. I'm not sure how popular these are, but I am really trying to concentrate on JCS2 and True Skate. Might need to do another JCS update later this year at some point though.
Anybody that has the new iPad the game looks fantastic running on full retina at 60fps with multi-sampling. And the iPhone 4S at full retina at 60fps looks great as well. The video Luke did does not do 60fps justice... no fault of his - just videos don't play back at that speed. The game is very silky smooth and never drops a beat. Anyway that's a job well done and now I can get back to my own work
Glad this thread has been bumped. Think this is a great little game, need to play it much more. Reminds me of a mix of Stunt Car Racer from back in the early 90's and other racers. Glad you can switch the location of the buttons (as i'm so used to left/right being on the left side). Nice little game, shall be playing this later for sure
The thing is Game Center only allows 25 leaderboards and has no challenge system, plus you cannot upload replays to high scores... and JCS needs more than 25 leaderboards and all the above and Openfeint can fit it's needs. As for iCloud Luke may be able to persuade me to include this in an update that will need to be done later on in the year. Plus maybe achievements can be brought over to Game Center... But primary this update was always about getting the iPad update out of the door - as this was something that was planned long ago but never happened because I had moved on from True Axis and Luke was working on other things.
Reinstall it? You actually removed this gem from you device? . You have lost your JCS badge of honor sir. This is one of the few games that has stayed on my device from day 1 since it's release a long time ago. My birthday is the 14th so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a release by then. Would make a nice birthday present which I am sure is the major factor of them releasing it around that time . How did you guys know? . I just need to unsubscribe from this thread because now that it is getting so close to release it is driving me crazy. Yea... Unsubscribing won't happen.
Jet Car Stunts 1.5.0 and Jet Car Stunts Lite 1.2.0 are submitted! For anybody who missed earlier the update gives: - native iPad support - 60fps on iPhone4s, iPad2 and iPad3 - Full Screen Anti Aliasing on iPhone4s, iPad2, and iPad3. - New high res fonts and HUD. Unfortunately, OpenFeint is broken on iPod 1st Gen, and iPhone 2G, but it works on everything else. The game still runs well on 1st gen devices, it was always one of the smoothest, but it is supper smooth at 60 fps on the new devices now. Anybody who wants to check out a full retina game on iPad3 running at 60fps can play JCS.
One of the best iOS games ever. Thanks in advance for the update. Does this game, by any chance, support Cloudsaving? I would love to transfer my progress onto my iPad.
No iCloud saving as this update was the long delayed iPad update. Just to add to Luke's post. The old devices run as before but with some graphics tweaks. 1. iPhone4 and iPod 4th now use the high rez graphics. Blurry menus are a thing of the past. These devices also have multi-sampling as well and retina - they already had that but just to remind people. 2. iPhone3gs has multi-sampling as well as before. It's a shame about Openfeint on the iPod 1st and iPhone 2g because we made sure that backwards compatibility would always work on the older devices... which it does. It looks like GREE have abandoned the Openfeint platform and are pushing their new platform. JCS will have to be updated later on in the year because GREE will pull the plug on the Openfeint servers sometime at the end on the year. So I guess iCloud may go in that update as well as a new social network.
I don't have any fingernails left... I hope it comes out soon . I am going to guess it will be approved by Apple on the 18th (I am sure it will not be out on my birthday the 14th). Since I can't play it yet I might as well make a game out of it's release date . Anyone else want to guess?
The waiting is killing me. Lol. If someone on here works for apple make sure to help bump this app for approval testing . Can one of the developers post a screenshot of it on an iPad 3 from the device itself? I would love to see it!
It's still waiting for review. We've had some updates go straight through before, but this one seems to be taking a while. Anyway, I've attached an image that Andy took from the iPad3.
