According to the delivery schedule from the Apple Store, we get one sent out on the 3rd of Sept and it may take till the 6th to arrive... It's been very frustrating waiting for one in Australia - they seem to be as rare as rocking horse shit If you walk into an Apple shop here and ask for one to be bought outright, the answer is always sold out. But at least we have one coming soon
I forgot to mention earlier that the latest update should be available now which fixes various bugs, inluding a data loss problem that appeared after iOS4 support was added. Some how an error in saving the options file in certain situations caused the progress file to be lost or corrupted. Seems like a bug in the way iOS4 lets apps save data because the options file is completely seperate to the progress file and they are not saved at different times. Anyway, the important thing is that we found and fixed it.
At the moment we are working on Jet Car Stunts for Windows Mobile 7, which is more or less there now... Then once done, Luke will probably start working on Jet Car Stunts 2 and some other games that were prototyped ages ago. I will be finishing off Space Tripper after the Mobile 7 stuff. Then after Space Tripper I will probably get a version of Jet Car Stunts to work on the iPad (universal build). Then I will start off a new project that I've been thinking about for a while. I think the next year will be a big year for True Axis - we will get to show off what we are capable of in the mobile sector.
We've got quite a few things going on and are starting to outsource more bits and peices and are going to have to bring in more help. Work on JCS2 has actually been going on and off for a while. We already have a 6 new cars and a new game mode. Hopefully we will be able to start showing some pics and vids of what we are working on next in the comming months. Jet Car Stunts for Windows Phone has been pretty intense, we've had to drop everything to focus on that 100% for a while, which has thrown our plans out a bit. I'm starting to get very excited about getting back onto our new stuff including JCS2. We also have another game in the works we gave a few people a sneek peak of the proto-type that I think quite a few JCS fans might be very interested in. Hopefully we will be ready to start talking about that more soon too.
Super excited for JCS2. JCS has got to be one of the single best games I've ever played on any gaming platform, almost definitely the best on the iOS platform. New cars and new game mode sounds awesome. Can't wait to have my mind explode. Haha.
are the cars just cosmetic, or do they handle differently. also, you're using the same physics engine, right? finally, when did you guys start working on other games? i never knew that.
Each new car will have a different handling model... The physics engine will still be used and probably in every game we make. Before True Axis started to make games, the company (namely Luke at the time) was about a physics API. The physics engine is very versatile and very efficient. The prototyping of the new games started in slack moments between things.
Hi Just bought myself an iPhone 4 and was wondering how I get the level pack without paying for it again as I allready paid for it on my iPod touch Many thanks Mtblegend
Generally speaking, if it is a non consumable DLC, you just need to dl it again using the same iTunes account you did the 1st time, it shouldn't charge you twice.
We have just submitted a new update that has put a restore button in for the DLC - which saves some confusion. At the moment the price comes up when you reinstall (it's just the way In App Purchase works), and asks if you want to buy again. If you say yes a pop up will come up saying that you have already bought it and would you like to download for free. This has confused some people which is way the next update has added a restore button. Also, this new update fixes problems we had with Openfeint 2.5.1 where you get stuck in the 1st Openfeint screen when you first start the game... This effected a small number of people. This fix is in Openfeint 2.6.1 - I noticed a few games on the App Store had this problem. Hopefully the new version will get approved next week.
I really hate how app/dlc purchases work. It should automatically check first if you bought it and show it correctly. I do not know how many times I downloaded something and ended up paying for it because I thought I already bought it. I find it really annoying.
It sounds like you know that clicking purchase will download the DLC for free if you have already purchased with the same account. I'm not sure it is possible to automatically check because I think we would have to ask you to log on to your iTunes account first. (Originally the menu was designed to work with an automatic check) However, in the next update, we are adding a restore button that will download the DLC if already purchased and do nothing if not purchased yet.
Just to let people know we have a new version waiting for approval that improves the framerate on the 3g iphone on devices on iOS 4. Also, since we got hold of an iPhone 4 I noticed the framerate was good but not as good as it could be - this has been addressed as well. So, I guess when Luke and I get some spare time the iPad version will be next, as a universal build.
Just wondering what your thoughts about gamecenter. Will jcs ever be updated with it. I think it's pretty cool although I do love openfeints ghost lap feature.
I'm looking into the Openfeint solution for gamecenter where Openfeint wraps up gamecenter into it's services. This way the older devices can have all the online stuff and the newer hardware can have gamecenter and the bits from Openfeint that is needed. This is planned for Space Tripper... but once done for that, I guess it would be easy to slot into JCS.
