You and Andy don't seem to get the point. I'm not asking you to upgrade Openfeint and/or wait for a "fix" that will cause that achievement to work. I'm asking you to log in with your dev account and manually update my achievements with the silver impossible award. Based on yours and Andy's PM, it's obvious that you are trying to deny me the satisfaction of getting Openfeint credit for that which it's obvious from replays and posted times that I've accomplished.
Sorry, I misunderstood. We don't actually have much control through our OpenFeint dev accounts. I just checked again for you, I ban people from posting scores, and I can delete somebodies scores, but can't find a way to change somebodies acheivements. OpenFeint where the ones who gave you the acheivement for the competition, not us, so, I could ask them to do it for you, but they tend to be quite slow about that kind of thing.
Based on the following dialogue we had back in february, when I asked about the possibility of having my time for an impossible E replaced with one in which it was done without shortcuts (i never succeeded, but plan to go back to E again), I thought it was possible for you to change achievements also. 02-28-2010, 12:10 PM TrueAxis Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Posts: 481 Quote: Originally Posted by Grubjelly In the event that I'm able to do Impossible E cleanly, would it be possible to have my current leaderboard time removed in order to make way for a new replay with a longer duration? Once I get replays up for that and the Hard tracks, it will be possible to take a break from this game There are currently 10 zero retry replays of Impossible E clocking between 31 and 35 secs sitting in my local scores section, with the shortest one running less than a second longer than my posted time. That's so maddening! I did send out the challenges though, so at least Openfeint knows I'm using a non-jailbroken idevice without any USB controller, etc. Luketruaxis wrote: Yes it's possible to remove peoples scores from the leaderboards, just let us know and we will do it for you __ endquote:
My comments where consistent, but sorry, I can't change acheivements, otherwise I just would have taken the 1 miniut to do it because I know you care about these kinds of things. I can also change peoples times on the leaderboards. Anway, everybody will have the same problem at the moment untill we fix it. The impossible siver acheivement ID doesn't match, and we have to fix that with a new update, then you will have to finish a level, then the acheivement will unlock.
Crap. I think he figured out TrueAxis diabolical plan with their Jet Car Stunts game. Their plan all along was to not create a great game but to deny you your achievements. Seriously though Grubjelly... It is just an achievement for a game. I think you could cut them some slack instead of insisting that they purposely are not helping you. Your tone and very rude posts surely do not show you in a very good light. After re-reading the posts I don't see how you come to the conclusion that they are somehow dishonest or arrogant. These developers are one of the best at communicating with their customers and actually listen to feedback from customers. They surely do not deserve that negativity you seem to be spewing. They are one of my favorite developers because of this.
We are not denying you anything... I've just taken a look on the OF dev dash and there is no option to give you the achievement. The only way it will be given is when 1.4.2 comes out... And we are still waiting for 1.4.1 to come out. Even though I am extremely busy if you PM me your UID number I can make an Ad Hoc App to unlock the silver medal for you - but either way that medal will unlock in 1.4.2 or I take time and build you an App to unlock it, the choice is yours. I really don't understand why you make us out to be bad people... At least we answer peoples PMs and try and sort problems out. Most devs don't even give the time of day to the people that buy their games. In our case we do.
*Applauds the True Axis devs for dealing with that whiner very professionally* I am impressed with the amount of work you folks do! Congratulations again on an epic game, and thanks for working so hard!
Agreed. Some shortcuts are witty, but most are pretty obvious and just ruin some of the leaderboards. The few shortcuts I've taken on some of the earlier tracks either don't take much time off, or the rest of the run wasn't optimized very well and thus could be easily bested by repeated efforts at clean golds. My 1-retry Impossible F @ 1:20 without any shortcuts was far more difficult than Daev's 0-retry @ 1:10 in which he/she avoids all the tubes at the end. On the other hand, many players would never be able to finish such levels at all if geometry had been added to prevent easy shortcuts, and many of those would complain about many levels being actually impossible if not for the shortcuts, so the way JCS is currently set up accomodates a wider range of casual and more dedicated efforts.
It would take you no time at all to use your iphone to call Brian of Openfeint (I've spoken to him on the phone before - he's affable enough) and ask him to change the achievement status of one of their contest winner's to reflect that I had in fact played according to your game's rules with a copy that I paid for. The fact that you try feign powerlessness on this matter and insist that several updates - not the next update - will need to pass before that will be fixed suggests dishonesty on your part. I don't think you would be able to look someone straight in the eyes and claim that you have no means by which to change it.
Both Luke and I are under a lot of pressure to get some paid work done, if you cannot wait then: The customer is always right. So I've written an email off to Jakob Wilkenson from Openfeint - their lead technical - who is a very busy man - and requested the achievement to be unlocked. I hope you are happy now? I don't see how not waiting for the 1.4.2 update to come out to unlock it makes a big difference. You will get the achievement no matter what, I even offered to make you a special App to unlock it. Anyway, let's just forget about this and move on.
That's very big of you. I hope it didn't set you and that very busy man at Openfeint too far behind your work. Looking back, would you say it took you more than 2 minutes? 2 or 3 sentences I'm guessing? Very, very big of you. Seriously, what's your paypal account so I can pay you for your time? Or should I make a check out to Luke and Andy? J
What is your problem dude? YOU are the one with the arrogant and aggressive tone here, yet accusing of TrueAxis of doing so. YOU are the problem.
There you go, predictably crying troll. Devs always have accounts like your on which to rely for such insightful defense whenever their product's flaws are exposed. The least the devs could have done in return for my having tested their app more than they did (i.e. remember, I was the one who found the impossible silver bug, which they acknowledged and would have discovered themselves if they actually tested their apps sufficiently ) was to humor my request to change the achievement manually - either by themselves or via someone at openfeint.
Trust me, hes not the dev, hes just standing up for someone who did nothing wrong. I mean come on its not that big of a deal and you keep bothering Trueaxis about it. Cut him some slack and just let it go please
Look, I've forgotten about this now... I did what you requested, both Luke and I have reasoned with you, and still you are not happy... That achievement will be unlocked... Whether the people at OF do it or the update comes out first. The point I am making is we are trying to help you and no matter what we suggest or do you will be unhappy. The other point is demanding things and screaming how dishonest we are is just not nice to do. Those PMs you sent me about this problem, did I insult you? If you read them I was actually helping you. The posts on this forum I've written to address you have not been rude - I've even offered to build an App to unlock the achievement from my own personal time. Some people will wonder why I am bothering to help you - the simple answer is we care about our business and the products we make and try to address problems that our users have. Anyway, I'm not going to get involved on this subject again... There's nothing more I can do. So let the water go under the bridge
That's just not true, and what you're doing is attempting to reduce the entirety of our correspondence to a case of an unsatisfiable customer, which I clearly am not; in your response to my first pm, you offered no help besides suggesting that it could be fixed several updates from now; Openfeint clearly isn't so bad that such a thing cannot be done manually by someone, at least out of respect for one of their top players who obviously puts in more time in than most others, let alone a non-jailbroken player who already has lost so many top spots to hackers. Other devs might have thanked me for bringing that bug to their attention in a PM before asking in a public forum, but I expected no thanks from you - only a polite response in which you might agree to either change the achievement yourself (which I've since learned you cannot do), OR send a brief message to someone at openfeint with the power to do so. The last thing I deserved is to be cold-shouldered over the matter, with you telling me about how "most other devs don't give the people who buy their games the light of day" (*most* being an exaggeration, by the way) and have my initially polite complaint reduced to an issue of me being "one of the people who care about such things" - to use your words.
