Wussy mode? First off, huge props to Andy and Luke! And extremely cool of you that you really address your audience amazingly well. I put everything into my work too, but I just plain give up on fairly difficult games cause I get frustrated with them. On behalf of the skill/motivationally-challenged, how hard would would it be for you to add a "wussy mode"? That might open it up to more casual consumers, or sucky players like myself. You could call it something like "lame-@ss-baby-mode".
UPDATE: Re. Sound related boot failure This is interesting. Thought I would try playing with headphones, and... it works (with or without external Mute switch on). So anyone with this issue can (hopefully) still enjoy playing with sound. Bad news is, taking the headphones out causes crash as soon as any selections made on menu. Furthermore, I tried taking headphones out Mid-Level and first there is a second or so of silence, then the engine noise for a split second, then instant reboot to iphone home screen. So it seems there is a relation to sound. I can take headphones out on the menu screen (where there is no sound) and the game continues with the video running in the background, but as soon as a selection is made (with the accompanying noise)... instant reboot. Hope any of this is helpful. I'm just delighted I can play with sound. Loving it.
I've been griping a bit about the difficulty, but wanted to also mention that there is a lot to like here, even for a dificulty wuss like me. The controls are fabulous! This and NFSU are the only two iPhone games where I enjoy powersliding! I'm also making my way through Race mode, which may be more to my liking than the platforming mode. At least unless I have a major epiphany on platforming, I am likely to replay in the Race mode. Even if I only end up with a handful of tracks to Race on and push for Gold, I have found value in the game for me. Will keep pushing on!
This game is a lot cooler than I thought it was going to be. I'm going to actually buy this one... when the dev drops it to a $1.

Just to throw in my suggestions, I would prefer greatly that you not make a whole other app as a sequel but rather have DLC to download level packs or something because I really like this game and I want to keep it on my iPod but I don't want to have two icons taken up because of the sequel (im sure plenty of other people can agree with me on that). Other ideas you could do for DLC could be like skins for the car, or if possible (im not exactly sure how much you can add through DLC) an editor for the car. Would love new tracks at least!
I'd love to see some tracks that didn't have a goal. No get-to-the-finish or time trial, just a few where you can go off some sweet jumps. maybe actually have a floor so you can just drive around on it and go off different jumps, maybe a half-pipe, etc. And the jet fuel could just like replinish over time (not too long but long enough to not just jump into space) and not recharge while you're already using it. Just some more ideas. Just started playing the time trial tracks and only loving this game more.
