I'm not really liking the level editor... I can't make levels the way I want to it's just sort of random =\
You definitely don't have the control of our production level editor, but we had some pretty good feedback to the level editor pre-release. The good thing about it is that you can quickly make a bunch of levels in succession and see what is fun to play or not, and the process of making the level is quite fun.
That's right, I forgot that you guys were from Australia (same as me), just remembered jcs1 was an Australian app of the week or something like that. I think that the level editor is great, but if you want to see truly unique and fun tracks on the user tracks, it would be nice for some more options with the editor. (I think it was mentioned that you were planning a standalone editor for iPad?) I really want to make a free roam area or a cool race track circuit. Maybe something to think about in the future .
Is it just me or is it insanely hard to get gold on the easy time trials you get for free? I just can't get it done, have tried holding afterburner the whole race and also releasing it in the curves, but nothing works. I'm in the top 100, but I can't get gold medals.
It was designed to be very hard, so it probably isn't just you. I wanted to give people who can't afford to buy the game a reason to keep playing. If you buy all the time trials, you are probably going to want to settle for less then gold on the first play through, which will be pretty hard for true completionists. On the first level with the buggy, you need to get a good line, hold the jet constantly, and try to skid as little as possible. You can always download somebody else's replay and see how they drive, and even race it. Easy and Medium share the same times, however, they should be generally easier on easy since the jet fuel replenishes, however, if you don't run out of fuel before the next checkpoint, that won't help much.
Okay, just spent like two hours messing around in the level editor. It's really fun. But...key words there are "messing around". I feel like I have absolutely no control over making something that feels planned out. I was trying to make "Möbius Strip" track, the idea being that the track would enter a loop and then another loop threading through the first loop. Now that would require a checkpoint just as I level out from the first loop, to have the speed to carry into the second loop. But I can't manually set checkpoints so I can't make that idea happen. It's fun, but it seems very hard to make a good track with the current tools and set-up Also unless I'm missing it, the track editor needs an Erase option to start a fresh track. Also wish the rewind didn't erase the track, would be really useful if you could rewind, have the game stay paused and then manually place checkpoints or rotate the camera
You can manually set a checkpoint by pressing the check point icon, but it will only let you do it if the road is not too steep or upside down, and you have traveled far enough from the last checkpoint.
Well this is a great game, like the original, but the level editor is terrible. It's impossible to do anything planned.
I wouldn't say impossible, but it definitely takes skill. You can also keep rewinding the same bit of track and laying it again until it is right. I expect we will see some people do some cool stuff when they get the hang of it. As with any tool, you have to work to its limitations. If you want to create an artistic level with a particular high level concept in mind, it is definitely going to limit you, but if you just want to do something fun and go with the flow, you wont have a problem.
After waiting a few hours after restoring, still not downloading. I tapped buy on one of the other packs and that purchased and downloaded without a hitch, yet the Mega Pack option is still available in the store (and unwilling to download).
No, just levels to unlock. The levels are all specifically designed for the existing vehicles. We are going to keep looking into this one. We don't really have much clue what it could be, apart from maybe the crash was caused if your device didn't have enough space. Sometimes it is also possible to have some recites hanging around causing everything to get confused, however, in theory, logging out of the appstore, deleting the app and restarting your phone should fix most such issues. The only other suggestion I have left to you for now is a factory reset, but that is pretty drastic.
I disagree. It's entirely too random to call it an editor. It's nothing more than a glorified recorder for random bouncing about and the user levels I've tried all reflect that. Neither the editor nor the user levels are fun once you realize how constrained it all is.
Just got the game, not played it yet but intend to buy the whole package. The level editor is a big deal for me, having read of the limitations, are there plans to enhance the editor in future updates?? Thanks
Call it a level recorder if you want, but I think that is just semantics. Weather or not you like it or not is probably personal taste, because we have had some very positive feedback as well. To me it is like the difference between composing with a guitar to using a sequencer. If you want to write a song with a sequencer, you don't need any skill, but it will take a long time to learn how to use the sequencer, and after that it is slow tedious work. You can create a new song with a guitar in a fraction of the time, and enjoy playing while you are doing it, but you will have to train to get good at the guitar first. An unskilled player will just make random noise. The point is, you need a bit of practice and skill to be able to build levels using this level editor rather then long tedious effort. No big plans at this point. We are waiting to see what the feed back is like first. Some is negative obviously... but we will wait and see and keep thinking about it. However, I suggest you stop reading, and just download it and try it out for free.
The game is beautiful, tilt sensitivity is on pair with Tilt to Live greatness, goes fast and the tracks and the loops/twists they do are a treat to see. Now only one question remains: what IAP to buy. Not really a time trial person. Btw, this system for the IAP is fantastic. I really like it. You can get just what you want because its modular and if you want the full thing you pay premium, no one freemium bit to be seen here. Kudos to the devs.
The one thing I'd like to see is a restart button somewhere, because the amount of times I have to press pause->restart is crazy when going for gold. A restart button would be much easier.
I had trouble with Jet Car Stunts 1. I just couldn't control the vehicle well enough. I felt like I was flying off the track way too much for it to be fun. I had so much trouble progressing. I would download and install the game multiple times to give it another chance thinking maybe I was just really sucking at it, but everytime I couldn't control the vehicle well enough. I would end up taking the game off my ipad. I even downloaded it and gave it another chance to prepare for Jet Car Stunts 2 but fell into the same problems. Well, I can say that I am really glad that they released Jet Car Stunts 2 free with optional IAPs for the additional tracks and options because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it given my experience with the first one. I went ahead on got Jet Car Stunts 2 and I am so pleased with the improvements. I can finally control the car\jet! I am really enjoying the game now where before I couldn't. I purchased the mega pack because I really do love it now. I can control the car, the graphics and framerate look great on my Ipad Air, there are a lot of different game modes and it is just so much more playable to me now. I find this to be a huge improvement over the first. It was a good choice to release it free so that those that struggled with the first could give the second version a try without obligation. Even if you don't buy any of the packs I really think that the game is very generous in how many tracks it gives you to begin with. Really love that I can listen to my own music with the in game sfx as well. Anyways, very pleased with the new and improved Jet Car Stunts 2. I found myself staying up past 1 in the morning playing it because I found it so addictive and fun. The leaderboards had me re-racing tracks just to try to make it in the top 10. So for me, it went from an unplayable first version to and addictive in-love can't stop playing second version.
