It depends on the car, some of them steer pretty easily in the air at least while either the jet or the air brake is on, but others more or less just go ballistic. I have a GPS routing app with the same problem except it's a whole lot more annoying when 2 GB of maps disappear while you're nowhere near a wifi network. The worst part is older versions of iOS did not even delete files in this specific location so some older apps got taken by this by surprise. It's actually possible the recommendation to store data there is similarly outdated...
Let me just put this on the table. I *hate* waypoints. The reason why I loved the original JCS so much is because you didn't have to complete a level the way you were "supposed" to. I was always looking for an alternative way to complete the levels. The waypoints in JCS2 serve no purpose other than to funnel the player into a strict path. If they replenished the players fuel, I might have accepted them. They don't. I just think that there could've been a better way to do it. Those crazy, high-risk jumps across the map to shave 5, even 10 seconds off your time are what I live for. Waypoints make those impossible. Thankfully not every level has them.
I woke up this morning to find the server had slowed right down yet again, but I just had a really big win. I tracked down a really big bottleneck and fixed it. Things are so much more responsive now. I've got to fix something similar in a few other less used places too. Hopefully this new responsiveness holds up for a while. The way points where mostly designed as an in air checkpoint for Jet. In the end, I had to sneak a few in places where the level design wasn't the greatest, and the short cut was too obvious and super easy. Short cut finding should take a little challenge at least. I don't think they are actually used in many levels apart from the jet levels where there would be no point in even trying to do the level normally because finding a short cut would always be easier. I haven't had a chance to check all the other recent posts here.
I'm putting this game aside for a while. The deleting DLC is just too annoying. Even if I have a good amount of space, well over the 200+ MB, seems like streaming music or browsing the Internet can cause it to get gone. As I said before, I've never, ever encountered this with any other app with DLC. Think Apple gave you some really bad advice on what directory to download it to.
Thanks for the update. Can't wait to really dive into the game because what I have played has been simply outstanding. Well above and beyond what I expected from the sequel.
Alright, I see your point. I've been a level desiger before so I feel you. Especially since there are so many levels now. Not all levels need a shortcut I guess. The jet car mechanic is new enough as it is. Also, did you design Platforming - E? What a nightmare... xD I can't wait to see how mean the levels get after L.
Haha I never played the first but this had so much hype I downloaded it as soon as it hit the AppStore because I was awake and was like "oh yeah" but still didn't know much about it apart from seeing a couple screens in the upcoming thread over the weeks. So yeah, when my car flew for the first time that night I was wowed.
E difficulty. Man, you ain't seen nothing yet. I will be impressed by anybody who finishes this game on hard!!! No, I designed all the A levels, and took over towards the later levels in the game. I wish I had of done more, I had some crazy ideas. However, I did do the polish on every level, which sometimes involved some big changes. I did do a couple F levels. And I did do all the changes for hard difficulty.
Luketrueaxis Have you ever tried a first person in the car view for this game?? It would be awesome or would it become unplayable due to limited in car viewpoint?
Think I found a bug in the editor. It's happened twice so far and both times it occurs under specific conditions. I had set the finish checkpoint for a track, tested it out, didn't like it. So I rewound before I placed the finish, redid the track, but then the game wouldn't let me place a final checkpoint. Tried tapping the icon while moving and while stopped and leveled out, nothing. Tried to make it automatically create one by driving, and nothing happened. The icon would just flash like it does when it sets an auto-checkpoint and I'd keep driving until I reached out of bounds. It's quite frustrating, especially since you can't save tracks and continue editing them later. Sometimes these kind of tracks and jumps are achieved unexpectedly and are very hard to replicate again and so far I've lost two good tracks because I wasn't able to "finish" them
if i buy the dlc.....can i put more than 2 checkpoints and a finish into a created track or is that the limit
Not sure if it's issue with my phone, or not, but I'm only experiencing this in the editor, not in any of the regular levels. So now occasionally not only am I not able to set the finish checkpoint, the Track/No Track icon won't work, and if I tilt my device, the track won't curve accordingly. So I'm just driving straight, unable to put a finish checkpoint, move up or down, or create a gap.
Luke, any tips on turning when flying in the jet car? The turning controls are so difficult in this car for me since the camera turns soooo much.
Also, these server issues are driving me crazy. Every day my progress is lost. I know $5 is not a lot, but I feel cheated.
This game is fantastic! Really polished. The only real issue is the servers...get'm fixed quick boys cuz the game is a winner! Gotta give you folks at Trueaxis major kudos for the engine. I'm playing on the original iPad mini and the game is just like butter. Super silky smooth! Very impressive. I would LOVE for you to do something in the more traditional racing game area - something along the lines of a Virtua Racer perhaps? I've always been a big fan of the flat shaded polygon graphics and a racer that featured the visual style and smoothness of JCS2 with a solid underlying physics engine and real time online racing would be pretty awesome!
