Welp I gave up and just restarted my progress...good thing I love this game so much. Hopefully I don't lose my progress again.
Maybe you could save only the best 10 times, or something like that. Those are the replays I race against, mainly because they are the only ones I can access from the top rankings boards EDIT: Just bought the Mega Pack. Too addicted to the free levels. Now waiting for the 121MB download to play more (Jet, here I come... )
Someone may have already mentioned this but my problem is not losing progress, but losing levels from the Mega Pack. Almost every time I start the game and try to play a level from the IAP, it says it can't find it and to restor my purchase. So I have to keep restoring and redownloading.
Game didn't save my medals. I thought it's because I skipped the login screen. (No FB, no TrAx account.) So I quit two days ago hoping for an update. Today I started JCS2 again: No medals. Then I went "back" to the "profiles" screen and "skipped" once more. Voilà: All my medals are here again! Maybe I'll pick it up again tonight.
Game Impressions Having a lot of fun with this game. It's a good evolution of the first game and has some great idea in. Only small thing, the freestyle levels look very cool at first but then I got bored soon. Maybe I'm not playing them right.
When I downloaded the complete pack the earned medals of the free tracks disappeared, but reappeared the day after. Probably I went into the profiles screen too.
The first game didn't really grab me, this one feels like a solid sequel. I like the new (old) 'shareware' design of releases we are seeing (it is a great way for iOS ports to hit the android market, like what they did with Knightmare Tower). I am still on the fence as far as shelling out for the full game, if anything sways me it will be the fact that the Devs are willing to listen to issues with stuff like the level editor.
Look for one of my posts a page or so back for why this happens. But the crux of the problem is your device is pretty low on storage space. What you need to do is free up about 200mb of storage space and the problem will go away.
The devs are constantly and consistently in the thread and have been improving their games since the early days of iOS gaming, I'd say it's worth it
We have our support page up which helps with quite a few of the issues people have been having here. Most of these things have probably been talked about on this thread, thanks to everybody for giving feedback on these things, there has been some really helpful hints on here. It has gotten to the point where we will have to take drastic action with the server and not upload replays for everybody. (Possibly limit to only high ranked scores, and facebook users) Even though we are now coping with the load, it is doing 100GB per 12 hrs ATM and with our current set up, not only is it becoming expensive, but we will go over the maximum space soon. Our upper estimates of how big we could get where way off, and investigating further, we could have used a more appropriate storage solution, which we may still do, but right at this moment, we need an emergency fix.
Thanks for keeping us all up to date! Please continue to do so with latest info (good or bad) as we are all in this together and regardless, I'm enjoying this ride a hell of a lot
I think it was Bill Gates who once said something like "Who needs more than 360k of space?" when presenting the 5.25" floppy disks the alternative of uploading only the best times replays is a good one.
Ok, I've limited replays to only Facebook linked accounts, and the top 10,000 scores for each level. I will see if that helps hold back the onslaught. If not, I will need to be more aggressive.
Not that I'm pushing for it, but would GameCenter be a cheaper alternative? I don't know what resources it offers developers beyond leaderboards, challenges and achievements but if it fixes your quandary, I say go for it
The problem with game center is, no replays, easy cheating, limited leaderboard count (better then it was before though), and no way to do user levels. The user levels was the main reason we did our own server. It has been a lot of work, but it was fun to learn about. It is a pity apple don't allow for all those things considering that it would be a big nothing compared to iCloud, but oh well.
very good game. Made me purchase the full pack instantly after going through the free levels. Some comments, though: * Shadow rendering for the car kicks in a bit late sometimes. * the location of the reset button. When holding the device vertically with two hands, you need to let go of the the right side of the device, which (at least in my case) results in a quite uncomfortable tilting move. Would make more sense in the vicinity of the accelerate button. * in air controls - how in the world is it possible to properly roll around the car's longitudinal axis? No matter what i do, i just don't get it. It this was easier, it could double the fun. Is there some kimd of trueaxis advice on that?
Took a look at your support page and you definitely need to change the location of the downloadable content. I've played many other games that download expansions or new levels and have never had them deleted just because I was running out of space. I constantly juggle apps and if I get a "insufficient space" message I can deal with that. But for the system to automatically delete something I already downloaded -- like the Mega Pack -- is crazy. First time I've ever had an add on deleted without deleting it myself.
