Hi All! Jasper's Rocket is almost ready to launch and I'd love to get some feedback and show you a preview. I'm excited, and If you're interested, reply here or via PM and let me know, and I'll add you to the beta. Jasper's Rocket runs on iOS and tvOS, with external controller support on tvOS. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel This cat's got problems. Marooned on a moon where the currency is bananas, Jasper's rocket wasn't designed for paws and is horribly fuel inefficient. Luckily, a chain of service stations operated by monkeys accepts bananas for fuel. But just how far can Jasper get on such an alien moon orbiting a gas giant in a remote binary system while avoiding prowling flying saucers? - A cat, monkeys, bananas, flying saucers, droids - Weather conditions - Dynamic lighting effects, including two suns - Nighttime flying - Dynamically generated terrain. - Did I mention cats?
I'd love to beta test: [email protected] I'd also love more details on how you handle representing the dynamic world, if you feel like sharing. Is a full map precomputed then loaded in memory? Or do you have some mechanism to swap hill geometry in and out of memory as the rocket traverses the world?
Hey ksr! I've sent you an invite. Let me know if you don't receive it. No, a full map isn't created, as the world is infinite in both directions. A small part of the world is computed a little beyond the current position, and a history is recorded of the terrain and items. This history uses a moving window which is large enough that it's not possible to go back to a place that doesn't have a record. If that makes sense.
That would be great! I've sent you an invite. Thanks for testing and hope you enjoy Jasper's Rocket. Cheers.
I would love to beta test! I got a controller too, if you want to try it out! Cheers! [email protected]
