I keep getting charged for items that I purchase from the App Store that are labeled as free. It clearly says free on the search page and the purchase page, but it comes up on my receipt as a charge. What a rip-off!

That is very odd. Open up iTunes, Click Store>View My Account. Then click on 'Purchase History, click on 'Report A Problem' on the bottom, and then, on top, you should see your purchase history with 'Report A Problem' next to each. Click on 'Report A Problem' for one of the ones that was free, and fill in the blanks there. Also in the 'Message' you type in tell them what other apps you got charged for. Click send and they'll reply to you by email in a day or two.

Keep the receipts and make note of the purchase date. Then confirm on appshopper that the price was free. Send apple links and copies of your receipt as proof

iTunes isn't stealing from you, you get a receipt when you download a free game, just like a paid app. The only difference is the balance is $0.00.
