Is iTunes really really slow in doing anything for anyone else? Anyone know any reasons/ fixes to improve speed?

And I am on windows Vista, is it just as slow on Macs?

My problem is that it is slow doing just about anything. With a large music library does the program slow down?

The really sad thing is that, for me anyway, Windows Media Player is just as slow as iTunes, despite being a native Windows app rather than a Mac port.
