I for one am tired of basically the same UI IOS has had since the debut of the original iPhone. Am I alone or does anyone else think Apple seriously needs to completely redo the IOS UI, and give us more options like Android users have. Or for G*D sakes at least give us more features like a real time updated weather icon without jailbreaking!

Sounds like someone wants Android. where each home screen takes 15 seconds to load because of all the crappy widgets people think a 1GHz processor can handle.

If you want a phone with a different UI there's plenty of choices out there. I like having the weather on my lockscreen with lockinfo and it's something I miss when my phone isn't jailbroken but it's certainly not a priority feature for me. I'm not crazy about the springboard UI but the fact that I can get into an app with at most a swipe and two taps means I don't have to spend more then a second or two looking at it. The two biggest nagging issues for me are the lack of custom text sounds and the tiny folder capacity, nether is going to stop me from buying an iPhone 5 this summer.

You sound like a UI expert. Perhaps Apple will hire you... they obviously need some serious help in that regard.

I like the UI a lot, but would like a vastly improved notification system. It's pretty terrible, but it's not really a deal killer. I just would like it improved and not so obtrusive.

Yeah nothing sucks more than when you get a notification and then another one right after and you have no idea what the previous one was. And a lot more apps are coming out with notifications too.

    Yeah I agree with this.

I also find some of the menus boring, it's just grey - a touch of colour wouldn't go amiss. Also when you don't have album artwork, it should just improvise with generic genre themes or something.

    That's all though.

This is not so much of a problem for me, as ALL my albums have artwork, and I make sure of it. I am really compulsive about it. LOL

I'm not too fussed. I quite like the whole simplicity of the iOS. The classical grid of apps is simple and not throwing too much in your face at once like I see with some phones.

However, a little spruce up (not a whole re-do) would be welcome to add a bit more functionality.

The springboard with the apps is fine, but otherwise we could use some themes as jailbroken iPhones have had for years. Settings and widgets could need sprucing up. And yeah, notifications and multitasking needs an overhaul, like webOS.

I have to say that I'm OCD the same way. It would totally bother me to not have the album artwork. I am missing one on one little corner of a Genius Mix, which has been bothering me. It does show fine on iTunes though.

Overall I would have to say that I more less like it the way it is. There are a couple of things here and there, but nothing major.

I like iOS the way it is, for the most part. But I also like your Weather icon idea. The clock face on the Clock icon should move too.

Whilst I do want a revamped UI, Apple shouldn't change it. Users are very familiar with the current UI, so there's no reason why they should change it. They need to keep their customers satisfied and familiar.

I think the fact that a friend's 2.5 year old son can proficiently work an iPod touch goes to show just how much they don't need to change the UI.

You'd hate my iPod then; for some reason since last sync, it shows the artwork okay but as soon as it's on lock, it shows a completely different album cover!

I do wish that would be something that they could focus on; taking the kinks out of album artwork and such. It does act buggy at times. One thing that mine does too is if I DL a song on my phone it won't show the album artwork when the screen is locked until I restart. I'd be quite happy with the little things like that.

I wish people were smart as that kid... Someone asked me how to go to the next page once... Lol but yeah simple is good. The iOS could be a lot more colorful though. I wish Android would be on an iPhone. But for now jailbreaking is fine.

Apple needs to make a much better iPod app. Like deleting songs and organizing your music on the go. Also, swipe controls would be great. (Music Controls Pro ftw)

The OS is great, perfect for a mobile device IMO, BUT I would love to see landscape orientation as I have my phone mounted in the car for GPS and hate looking at everything else sideways in the main UI...
