Istanbul is, without a doubt, one of the best board games to have ever been published. The long list of its awards and honors speaks for itself: 2015 Nederlandse Spellenprijs Best Expert Game Nominee 2014 Swiss Gamers Award Winner 2014 Meeples' Choice Nominee 2014 Kennerspiel des Jahres Winner 2014 International Gamers Award - General Strategy: Multi-player Nominee 2014 Hra roku Nominee 2014 Gouden Ludo Winner 2014 Golden Geek Board Game of the Year Nominee 2014 Golden Geek Best Strategy Board Game Nominee 2014 Golden Geek Best Family Board Game Nominee In our 2018 digital version we have maintained all of the features that made Istanbul the fan favorite that it is, but also expanded upon it with a number of tools and features only available on the digital platform. We maintained the authentic board game feeling with the convenience you can expect from an electronic device. So what is the game about? Can you be the first merchant to collect a certain number of rubies? • Run, collect and trade goods across the bazaar • Take control over your assistants • Increase your wheelbarrow capacity • Acquire special abilities to increase the advantage over your competitors • Buy rubies or trade goods for them In Istanbul, you lead a group of one merchant and his four assistants through 16 locations in the bazaar. In each such a location, you can carry out a specific action. The challenge, however, is that to take an action, you must move your merchant and an assistant there, then leave the assistant behind to handle all the details while you focus on larger matters. If you want to use that assistant again later, your merchant must return to that location to pick him up. Thus, you must plan ahead carefully to avoid being left with no assistants and thus unable to do anything… What can you expect? • Official Istanbul game - 100% original rules • Adaptation of TOP 100 board game of all time by BGG ranking • Play with AI, with friends or both • Great artwork by Andreas Resch • Languages: English, German, Dutch, Polish, French, Korean, Japanese, Chinese Simplified, Spanish • Pass and play mode • Cross-platform online multiplayer with synchronous and asynchronous modes • Opponents' last moves replay • 3 levels of difficulty AIs with individual strategies • Preset or random generated game boards • Atmospheric music and sounds • Unique, original board game experience • Intuitive gameplay • Colorblind mode • Over 70 achievements • iPhone X support Information Seller:Acram Digital Genre:Board, Strategy Release:Jun 26, 2018 Updated:Mar 31, 2021 Version:1.1.13 Size:196.0 MB TouchArcade Rating:Unrated User Rating:Unrated Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #2 vectorarchitekt, Jun 26, 2018 Has anyone played this, digital or physical? As I have both other Acram games, I will be waiting to hear about the multiplayer implementation, so if anyone knows Are both the game setup and game play with the sync / async options? Can you select the number of players for a multiplayer game? (Not possible in 8-Minute) Do the iOS notifications actually work? (I never get in 8-Minute) Are there any configurations options for time limits in a multiplayer game? (It just keeps going forever in 8-Minute) Zemar Well-Known Member Dec 1, 2009 462 0 16 Denmark #4 Zemar, Jun 27, 2018 YES! I have been waiting for a digital release of this board game. Can't wait to try it out later. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #5 vectorarchitekt, Jun 27, 2018 I’ve been playing my first game against the easy AI and we are tied for the last ruby. I like how they kept all the information easily available in case you need to remind yourself of something. I can see a multiplayer game going on for quite awhile, not sure if there are time limits? Very well done. valdgir Member Nov 27, 2009 9 0 1 #6 valdgir, Jun 27, 2018 Are both the game setup and game play with the sync / async options? yes Can you select the number of players for a multiplayer game? (Not possible in 8-Minute) yes, you can also select number of players in 8ME but the game won't start automaticaly in 8ME Do the iOS notifications actually work? (I never get in 8-Minute) yes they work Are there any configurations options for time limits in a multiplayer game? (It just keeps going forever in 8-Minute) you have 48h per move and there is also list of active players, you can add friends skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #7 skoptic, Jun 27, 2018 Thanks for the info. Good to hear about those. A bit off topic but when setting up a multiplayer room in 8-Minute, I don’t see any options for selecting no. of players and Acram confirmed this. How are you doing it? skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #8 skoptic, Jun 27, 2018 Last edited: Jun 28, 2018 OK - checked it out. Not wanting to cast aspersions but @valdgir you only have a few posts over 9 years, all for Acram or Mobo apps, so I’m a leeeeetle bit wary. Id love to know how 8 minute multiplayer allows selecting no. players but I’m 99.9% sure it doesn’t. The multiplayer in this looks a lot more robust the 8 minute Empire (which lies unused mostly because you can’t select number of users or timeouts so with the lack of notifications, I have never seen a game get completed). It also looks slicker than Steam (Rails) which although it did improve, was a bit of a clunky first foray. I hope the Steam (Valve) setback doesn’t affect them significantly and I hope the player base is enough to be a good community. So I’ve taken the plunge and will report back. ** I’ve managed the tutorial and a game, app plays well) tutorial a little clunky but gets the basics done). I’ve joined my first async game and I’m waiting for a notification vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #9 vectorarchitekt, Jun 29, 2018 I really thought this thread would be more active! charlesatan Well-Known Member Jun 5, 2013 74 0 6 #10 charlesatan, Jun 29, 2018 It's more complicated than Splendor, but not as complicated as something like Agricola. It's an elegant game with elegant rules, and the tiles where you place your tokens are randomized. The learning curve is reading/learning what each tile does, and depending on their placement, assess which is the fastest/best route to victory. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
