Ah, so you're one of those who think jailbreak = piracy. Okay. Have you ever jailbroken one of your devices?

I like how people are proud of not jailbreaking, and their reason being they buy apps and don't pirate them.

    Lol...fail.

    Jailbreaking =/= pirating

I don't jailbreak because I have a droid phone. Probably would jailbreak if I didn't, but not to pirate games.

Here's a good article about piracy, but the comments are where it's at. They definitely give you some insight on jailbreaking and pirating!! http://blog.gameized.com/2011/07/12/the-huge-success-of-an-appstore-failure/

That is certainly a sad article to read about. Truly speaks about the society we live in today, that people won't even bother spending .99.

Yup, but people are willing to spend $300-800 every year on a new device that they probably don't need or shouldn't even cost what it's being asked for.

All of this screws us gamers over because we are forced to upgrade our devices about every 2 years to play the newest games.

Android already has a comprehensive list of processor upgrades for each year. I wonder how this will translate into mobile gaming!?!

I agree, but I think you would also agree that a huge portion of pirates deny being one. It's their fault jailbreaking is associated so strongly with them.

Actually I have a question too, is updating a jailbroken device still as annoying as it used to be? The last time I was jailbroken is back when the 2nd gen Touch was new, and the reason I unjailbroke was because updating the OS was such a pain, having to create backups, restore, rejailbreak, etc. Now we're getting delta updates it'll probably just happen more often right? So I'll be stuck with annoying badges on my settings app and unable to update until I can be bothered to go through the process again.

I'm not in the same position as you so I might not be giving a good opinion.

But I'm using a 2nd gen, and because the newer iOS are all incompatible, I'm jailbroken on the furthest iOS a 2nd gen can run so I don't have to worry about the iOS updates. Jailbreaking was extremely easy, although setting up my theme and making sure my jailbroken tools would run properly without slowing my device down was hard.

It's probably more so they don't mention it. The ol' "I didn't lie, I just didn't tell you" bit.

Yes it is, unfortunately. It's the reason I unjailbroke recently. Jailbreaking has it's advantages, but for me it wasn't worth the hassle. The only thing I really miss is SBSettings, but now I just use System Manager instead which works almost as well.

Ah, nuts. Never mind! The only reason I considered it is because I have Jenna Fischer on my lock screen and wanted to change the text to "slide to undress..." ;)

That's a sad article. Must be so frustrating.

What I would suggest to devs is a free 'Lite' version of their game with IAP for the full game, and then cross-check the IAP with their own servers. Then theres very little chance it will be pirated.

I think the only problem with the lite version idea is it has to be done perfectly for the dev to profit. Too much content in the lite version and people might not buy the full game. Too little content, people complain about not knowing enough about gameplay to buy the full game.

    Why bump for no reason?

I recently rejailbroke. The main thing I like is MyWi, and I rather like MyWi. Also my iPhone 4 may not run iOS 6 well, and I can get some more mileage out the phone via jailbreak instead. There's a ton of crap to wade through, but some good stuff here and there. I have a few minor tweaks like the Tweet from notification center, that will appear in iOS 6. Only problem is I installed some other stuff I've realized I don't really want, and uninstalling is basically impossible because certain hacks will install other hacks, and uninstalling the main part does not automatically uninstall all the other crap it put in. I guess if I'd taken good notes I could manually remove them, but I didn't. There should be an easy way to "revert back to square one" via some button clicks, to get back to a just jailbroken state, then I could go back to a clean sheet (without restoring) and then put in just the stuff I really want. I don't think that's there, though. Would love to be shown otherwise.
