Both my iPad 1g and iPod touch 3g are jailbroken - although I've trimmed down wht jailbreak apps I keep. Mostly for sbsettings, enhance folders (for the unlimited # of apps in each folder, and folder in folder). i just can't seems to stop downloading game apps ! A few other JB apps. My ipod touch has seemed to get slower and slower for the icon wiggle over time is the only downside.

I know this much, jail-breaking gives the ability to add loads of 3rd party features (legal) and pirate games (illegal) now if you're suggesting that you pirate games I believe you are stupid and do not realize how you are damaging the marketplace you are also a criminal. The reason I question this is because I can't believe that you would be such an idiot to even suggest this in a forum that frowns greatly on pirates. If you do pirate games then I suggest you leave now. This topic is about jail-breaking not pirating.

Because the price of a coffee or a burger is way too much in the first place, right?

mine was jailbroken and i have nothing against people who do have theres jailbroken, many people who jailbreak do not pirate games im sure of that, but guess what? pirates do not earn my respect....
you have not mentioned games but what is the other obvious reason? nothing else comes to mind
anyway i un-jailbroke because it slowed done my device and when i got my new one i decided to keep it as it was. i didn't need a jailbreak, sb settings was good though

i have yes i bet almost everyone has at some point and even Bluetoothing songs is technically illegal (never done this though) the few songs i have illegally downloaded have now been bought with my money, after i realized how bad it is to steal others work like that ;) and yes 3g unrestricter was very good, and that thing that made a wifi point using 3g

Lol i could say that about pirate movies though-i have now got them on blu ray
But at the time they were on at the cinema... Lol
Amyways glad we have come to a stalemate and im actually surprised the poll isnt im favour of jailbreaking, admit it slows idevices down but apples ios are so restrictive when the hardware is capable of so much more

Yes but for there target consumers, the leave the right things open and restrict the unnecessary, allowing them to perfect the things they are focusing on. It seems that has always been apple's goal, and I would only expect to see minor expanses with each ios.

No but I've been tempted to jailbreak my iPhone though, because I've heard that all the screen capture apps out there chop up the framerate of what you're capturing. Does anyone know what the best app to record some gameplay of my game would be? I just want the videos to be at a smooth 60fps and not 12fps like some of the apps out there are offering

I once tried jailbroking on one of my previous iPhones (iPhone 3g, not 3gs) - Why I did it? Just for the curiosity as there's a lot of talk about jailbroking. Anyway, few of the reasons why I gone from Nokia to Apple are listed here:
    - Speed (all my nokia smartphones felt sluggish)
    - Easy of use and proper content of 3rd party apps/games/etc
    - Everything just works on the first time instead of forcing phone to reboot

With jailbroking I lost some speed (because I installed SSH terminal and all necessary items for that plus few extra daemons). Easy of use; well, update came along and as I had jailbroken, it wasn't that easy and simple anymore.. Also, jailbroking brought in some nice tweaks, but they made my iPhone to remind me more from Linux than apple product - tweaking and trimming endlessly - and that wasn't the point in owning iPhone.. If I want what I described here, I would had gone Android :)

Yes, I admit, I tried some games and software and didn't pay for it. After some time I decided to un-jailbroke and go vanilla again - it was better for me that way, even though I had to pay for software now on - it's worth it :)

Hell yes, and I don't regret it one bit. And oddly enough, despite my device being an ancient 2nd gen, jailbreaking hasn't slowed it down one bit. It's slower to turn it on, but I don't really ever turn it off either. Whenever I am low on RAM to start up an app, I can simply clear some memory. And that's basically it.

Jailbroken IPhone 4 iOS 4.3.3. I love the extra features I could use (ie. springboard, biteSMS, backgrounder, blacklist, appbackup, tethering). Once I jailbroke my IPhone, I never went back.

The first thing I did when I got my old iPhone 3G was jailbreak it, literally 5 minutes after connecting to my PC for the first time.

But now that I've got a different phone and an iPad, I've not really needed to. Although the screen recording thing would probably be the only reason to do it these days...

Since I use my iPod primarily for testing games (and music) it's pure.
